Bucks in velvet

All the bucks I've seen are still in velvet. This seems later than usual. When will they start rubbing it off? What dictates when they start to lose or rub it off, light, temp, etc.

Light or lack of it triggers the release of testosterone in a bucks pituitary system which affects the hardening of the antlers. Once a certain level of testosterone is achieved the antlers are done growing and the velvet(almost completely composed of blood and capillaries to transport nutrients to the antlers used in growth stage) begins to dry up. Which happens to be this time of year. As with everything else we have learned about deer, each one is a little bit different and on their own schedule

Saw one in velvet tonight. Got trail camera picture of a couple this week.
