What is the typical territory/range of the whitetail? I always was under the impression that it was about 1 sq mile. How far will bucks range during the rut?

Think of it as when you were a teen aged..how far did you travel to get something something...lol

We have them 3 to 4 miles apart during the rut on cameras now they will stick with the food

Oh wow! Many variables go into answering that question. Some are...number of does available, available food, personality of specific buck, amount of hunting pressure and more. You could go into depth and write volumes on each of those variables that I listed and still come up with more. Once you have finished with all variable then go ahead and try to pin one or a combination of more than one on a specific buck and you will have your answers. Good luck!! Every single deer is different, it’s up to you as the hunter pursuing that deer to figure out his pattern. It’s not easy and I think that’s why we (hunters) are here. We all enjoy the challenge
