always read that buckeyes was poisionous,but i got a couple in my yard the gray squirrels tear up.they cut them like hickorys.always wondered if deer or hogs eat buckeyes in the wild.

My wife (the biologist) says it is because they have a different digestive system. Just like deer eat poison ivy with no ill effect.

i know squirrels eat onion and garlic sets.and tomatoes and peonie and rose buds.not much they wont eat.
