Anyone going to be out with the bow during muzzy season? I have two guys hunting my property. Its going to be tough for those guys with the beans being super high.

Them beans them beans. Easy to sneak up on a buck when they are that tall.

Yea I never hunt them because they are harvested when I hunt. They bait for muzzy and just wait. Do not know why but, maybe they should do what you did. Could you have shot that buck with the bow or where his vitals covered by the beans.

Probably could have. He didn't even see me drive in and park 80 yds away.

Hey all, just moved back to KS and noted the muzzy season and archery open at the same time. Does that mean I’m required to put on the orange? I’m planning on it but, if I hunt an archery only public spot would range be required?

Someone from KY or FL will be here soon to tell you the regs ;)
Or, you could call Pratt...but the answer is yes.

Man, looking at all the dates, archers are in orange on public most of the season...

I believe there is no difference whether it is private or public. 97 degree's today, no interest in hunting for me.

Public has nothing to do with it. If there is a season that allows forearms for deer, all deer hunters aware orange.

What time do you guys head out if you are gonna deer hunt in 92 degree temps.

My advice is go out an hour before the deer do. When the wind died the other evening, I stunk the place up by sweating and those wise does with their farms had me pegged a hundred yards away.

I've heard of some good deer being shot already here in SEK. One with bow and one with muzzle loader.

I'm sure the failure pile shooters are claiming a few trained animals, but that's not hunting in any sense of the word. Too dang hot for me yet, and Pronghorn opens this weekend so...

I've seen and talked to several truckloads of NR headed to hunt Woodson County already while I was out mowing a Wal-Mart. This is surprising to me because I don't ever remember anyone being very interested in hunting KS during early season especially with this terrible heat. The bow guy at Sutherland Archery dept said they already sold 15 Ravin crossbows that can shoot over a hundred yards. I have a feeling the number of bucks killed will be higher this year

We tried to get these damn things outlawed and failed. Because some ones dad decided to camp out in the state house.

Guys who think they can shoot a crossbow at a 100 yards and attempt hit a deer will miss.

I was out for it and didn't see a lot. Milo was VERY tall as there was a lot of rain in the area I hunt.

Good luck Matt, just an FYI...if you hold your phone in "landscape form" with the function button(s) to the right, your pics should be oriented correctly.

Had a doe come down the trail like I had it planned but she wondered into some forage sorghum I had planted and disappeared. Only deer sighted. I will ne in a stand 100 yards further north in the morning.

So we lost the blood trail. Minimal blood with fatty tissue on the arrow. Decent blood to start the transitioned to good then back to decent and stopped. Makes me sick I practice all summer and a 25 yd shot that should be a cakewalk wasnt.

It happens Matt to all of us. Don’t beat yourself up. She might live if not she won’t go to waste.

Here is a little bit of the trail. Wife who has never blood trailed in her life could follow it then it just stops.

I've had it happen bad dealing for sure but if you bow hunt its part of the deal it will happen to everyone sooner or later

Sounds like a meat hit, typically good blood, then nothing. It happens to everyone if you hunt long enough. Those that claim different are lying or haven't shot many deer. Good news is that it bothers you, means you care, prepare, and are a good ethical bowhunter.
