It can be exciting though, some does run in looking for a fight, others cautiously sneak in. Yotes just generally appear out of thin air.

Curiosity has killed many a deer.

A few soft mews on a kmeer deer call got me my first deer. I built a platform in a forked birch tree, but the deer were under a white oak, in sight, but well out of range. One doe turned it's head for two soft calls, and on the third, came to investigate. With the doe under me, I had so much brown in my string peep, I had to open my other eye to determine where the sight was located on the deer.

My L'il Doe in a can has called most of the bucks I have taken, but that was pre-rut/rut. IMHO, doe are leery of calls. Then again, I once had a doe lead a buck to my rattling. I passed on a shot at her in hopes of getting the buck. I'll never do that again.
