Hey guys, I dont post much but I thought this footage I got today on my iphone was worthy. I was set up in Roxbury around 3:45 this afternoon for my first hunt this year. Was getting picks of some nice deer coming into a set of white oaks. However this guy i believe ruined the evening... Check out the link
Watch the whole thing… He keeps getting closer!
Cool video They're everywhere
Wow - that's amazing. I was worried he was going to start climbing up to see you. WOW!
Holy crap! No fear of humans.
Very cool, but not what you want to see while hunting deer with a bow.
That’s great footage!! I had one do the same thing to me in Sharon but started climbing my tree!!
That’s a big one too. About 225 to 250
You and me both Will!! BoneHead not sure what I would have done if he had...
Could've dropped a duece on him..lol
Incredible footage. Memorable for sure.
What do you guys carry in the field for bear deterrence since carrying a pistol is prohibited? Also this rule really should be changed
Let/s suppose it was legal to carry. Watching that video. at what point in time do you shot?
I dont carry anything either which is going to change after that experience, at the very least bear spray. I had only been in the tree for about 30 seconds when he came in. Must have been eating acorns nearby and smelled me or heard me. If it was legal, one more paw makes it onto the ladder or if he reached higher i'm firing a warning shot.
Awesome video. I think about the time he put his paws on my ladder stand , he would have gotten a face full of pepper spray!
Awesome video, it's seems likes more bears are popping up everywhere, I myself carry a knife when I'm in the woods,he wouldn't scare me but if I ran into a mother with Cubs that would be a different story.
I thought about getting some bear spray or an air horn. Very hesitant to carry my pistol in as I know it's prohibited and I don't want to try my luck running into a dep officer. Anyone know how effective the spray is/had any experience with it?
I’ve used the air horn in NJ and it drove the bear off but it took some blasting. Before the hunt was opened there they had no fear of man.

Hey Rich nice videos, off of East woods rd.
thanks - yeah my wife drives along 317 to Woodbury every day and that is exactly where she saw one
check out the other videos on my channel - alot of cool stuff
“Let/s suppose it was legal to carry. Watching that video. at what point in time do you shot?”
In that video? You don’t. Wasn’t necessary.
That said, if it had been me, he would’ve gotten a stiff dose of pepper spray as soon as he looked up.
A bear like that with no apparent fear of humans needs to find out that we’re off the menu.
And if it had been me, and I had had no pepper spray, he would’ve gotten a Broadhead as soon as he put a hind paw on the first rung. Or - as things turned out here - a rubber blunt in the backside as he walked away...
Rich - what was in that bag you had hanging from the tree??
I would have been making noise upon approach
gf -deer scraps after i butchered a deer - bear showed up within minutes literally
That’d do it. Just don’t get caught with any weapons on you!
I've hunted Bears for 20+ years all over North America and Canada.
That video is a common thing, they are very curious animals. The 1-3 year olds especially.
I wack em with a slick trick on the paw when they climb. Once had to pour out a piss bottle in his eyes. He's still running and squealing through the woods of Quebec it must have stung his eyes.
We should all carry BEAR (pepper ) spray!
I had a bear on my camera in August. I carry bear spray, it's in my hand ready to shoot in the morning walk to my stand. Doesn't work if it is in your backpack.
Pepper spray on lanyard hanging sternum high. I tuck it inside my shirt when on the stand.
