Good luck, everyone!! Start whackin' and stackin'! Unfortunate circumstances are keeping me away again this year, but I'll be living vicariously through my UBP brothers and sisters with this thread!!

One of the “new guys” Joe Ruch drew first blood!

Way to go Perry you deserve some good fortune!
Thanks Stew! Just glad to be back in camp this year- everything else is just a bonus! : )
Where are the updates
Who’s in a tree and looking at this?
I’m in same spot. Curtis(yodermeister) is 45y towards the field (I can’t see him or shoot that way) and Teeton is about 100y below us. We have this wood lot covered! ;-)
Oh wait........................
Ole snake bite is the social media guy..
That explains it:)
Kathy and I are having fun keeping up with all of this. We were fixing stands and resetting cameras this afternoon. Lots of sign and acorns are falling.
Glad to hear it Art. You see what that is?
That’s my nocturnal. A button buck came in quick- looked like it was headed away from Curtis. Of course at the shot, it headed right to him! Died 15 y from his tree! ;-)
So what’s the Talley so far?
Chris got within a few pounds of Patty- 92 lbs
Bill- we’re stackin’ em! Up to 10 so far and one of the farmers donated 2 to HSH! So 11 so far to donate. : )
All settled in for the morning sit. Just Curtis(Yodermeister) and me this morning. I traded spots with Curtis to day to try to give him a better opportunity. I kinda felt bad that the only deer he saw last night was the one I shot. ;-)
I saw 2 others trot by at 35 y but they never stopped. I think wind had them spooked. And Ed passed on a fawn.
Beautiful morning in God’s creation! : )
Looks like the meat wagon is filling up!!!
This looks like a win win all around at this event. I will try to secure a 5C property near the Reading Airport next year and hope to attend.
Did someone say “meat wagon?!” ;-). On it’s way to the butcher!
Just a question what's the average height the guys here on the forumn hunt from with there climbers .
Swiggy- you don’t need to secure any properties.............we always have more than we can hunt. Just get your tag and come out.
Thanks guys! On stand for last sit. Temps dropping all day. Hoping it means LOTS of deer! ;-)

My Joe Granitz arrow flew once and found its mark on a big slickie. RIP Joe
Our newest 5C participant and DHP hunter Jamie Moyer brought me some good luck on my first 5c harvest
I still wanna hear about Andy's big miss?:)
Great job everyone, well done and thanks for sharing so we could follow along
Thanks guys! It’s always a great time! : )
It was great to meet everyone. Im looking forward to next year.
I'll echo the congratulations to all the hunters who tagged a deer this year and another thank you to all those who put in the many hours organizing the event. This was my second year as a UBP member and I really enjoyed the campout, hunting early season, and meeting other members.
I would not do archery hunting justice if I did not mention the unrecovered doe that I hit Saturday morning. She offered me a quartering away shot at 30 yards. I practice out to 60 yards regularly through the summer and this was not a difficult shot for me to make. Wide open. Stopped her. Release was smooth but my arrow hit her shoulder and got very little penetration. She ran off with the arrow in her, disappearing after 80 yards. I waited about 40 minutes and slowly started on the trail with Darrel and Perry. Very little blood. Mostly following running tracks and disturbed leaves. Never found the arrow and ran out of blood and tracks after about 140 yards. The consensus was she will survive and heal over. Ugh! I hate being that guy! But I know it happens.
Back at camp I shot my bow to regain confidence before the evening hunt. Found my arrows were hitting 2 inches left at 20 yards. That may have been part of the issue. Adjusted my sights and went back out to the same stand. Right at dark I had a deer trot through an opening, but she was there and gone before I could get positioned for a shot. So close... maybe next year.
Anyway, this hunt is a great way to kick off the archery season. Already looking forward to next year.
Great to finally meet you Chuck!
Good job everyone. Glad to see such success come from a whole lot of work put in by those members. Congrats... No bear seen?
Thanks John!
One of the hunters saw a bear while he was walking out, but he didn't have a tag anyway. (That's why we encourage EVERYONE to buy a tag! You just never know............. ;-)
We also had 2 additional farms where bear damage was noted, but no sightings on those farms during our 3 day hunt.
Well Roy to keep it short and simple, I was huntinging in a blind the deer came out where I never saw a deer come from before I was all twisted up I got to draw my stabilizer hit the blind and I shot the arrow looked true the feet turned to the right just missing the arrow slipped s rock n weny flying up into the next field all my dad saw was a green light going across the girls he was hunting. My arrow ended about 150 yards from where I shot
That must have been some sight Andy! : )
Well, Andy, if you're going to miss, you might as well miss in spectacular fashion!

Great Pictures Jen!
Curtis- I just saw your post- not sure how I missed it yesterday. It was great hunting with you and I really appreciated you gutting and dragging my deer for me! Don't beat yourself up about the deer. We've all been there and done that! If you bowhunt long enough, it will happen. You just have to do 2 things when it does- 1) do your best to track and recover the deer and 2) try to figure out what went wrong and correct it for next time. You certainly did both! It was nice to meet the whole family this year and P.S>those kids are adorable! ;-) Have a great season this year and hope to see y'all next year at 5C!
I once hit a nice 10 point and got nothing but shoulder bone, no penetration. Me and my buddies looked halfcthe night and all next morning. Very thorough. I got a call from one of them on opening day after supper. He had just come home from helping a guy skin the deer out and the 10 point had the 4 blade bear razor scar in the exact spot. Also took a nice buck with a broad head in its neck that was perfectly healed over once.

Oh Jen. I think I know exactly where that”field of deer” pic was taken. Cool

Congratulations to everyone who helped thin out the 5C doe population! Also, a big thank you to the folks who put in all the hard work, time, and dedication that make this such a successful event. This is what being a UBP member is all about!
A special congratulations to Patty! Receiving that Big Momma Trophy is a pretty impressive accomplishment, especially considering the caliber of bowhunters in Camp Whack a Doe!
Thanks Perry. We will see how things shake out for next year, but Amanda is wanting us to camp again in October somewhere I can hunt, so I think the 5C hunt may be a new family tradition.
I was also wondering if anyone would be interested in getting together in the extended or late archery season. I still have my two 5C tags and don’t have much knowledge of public ground or connections to private ground. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for the kind words Josh- I think I can speak for the whole committee that this event has become a labor of love! So much good comes out of it and it is such a good time that all the hard work is WELL worth it!
Curtis- great pic! I hope it DOES become a family tradition! : )
