GMU 28/37 4th rifle?

Since I was unsuccessful with my archery elk tag, I noticed on the leftover list that there are something like 300 cow tags available for 4th season rifle units 28 & 37.. I am just out to put meat in the freezer and looking for a starting point. If anyone has any intel on where to start or if it is even worth the time to hunt let me know.. I've never hunted 4th season rifle so not sure where to begin I presume the elk will be down low...

I am hearing several credible reports that the elk are already 'Down low" on the private lands...hate to be a wet blanket but I have found scores of left over tags are usually for a good reason

Those units get pounded. Might get lucky but you’d do better to have access to private land.
