Good luck to everyone out hunting today.
Moons finds hunting so easy he doesn’t wear camo to at least try and give the deer a chance lol. Ah ‘‘tis the season.
Nice Moons! I punched my first doe tag at 8-am. I have I have 1 more that I will save for late season Now I won't squeeze the trigger until I see an 8-or better.
Congrats Fran... Time to make the meatballs :)! Ok, what's the over under on Moons for number of deer this year? Congrats bud!
Moons, just to keep it interesting, I think you should restrict yourself to shooting albinos.
Hahaha thanks! 11 pm just got home another one of my friends got a deer this afternoon they were surely on their feet today!
This was my buddy from central mass spike horn out of my stand this morning
130 lb doe I got 730 opening day.
Big girl . Congratulations
Nice job everyone! Keep it up!
I think the over under. Doesn’t matter. It is going to be a push for Moons !!!
Number of tags = number of deer
Awesome Maximus!
Moons, is that your buddy who hunts behind my house, sorta?
I'm jealous, but real happy for you guys. Nice work!
Congrats to all. Nice to see Brian on the board.
BC - awesome man! Congrats!
BrotherHS - I saw a pic of that one on FB (BBH) - congrats man!
Lots of good eating there fellas!
Tuesday afternoon. Clean pass through.
Good going guys. Season is starting out strong
Tekoa - that's frigging awesome! Congrats man!
Great job Tekoa, congrats
Bone on the ground! Way to go Tekoa ! Congrats
Wow with a recurve- impresssive!
Excellent !!! Great job Tekoa
Off to a great start, good job everyone. And congrats Tekoa, I remember seeing that monster you got with the ghillie suit and have been pulling for you ever since. Was this one from the ground as well?
Nice job all. Between baseball game time changes ( 930! Nope, come back at 11, nope, game at 12, no can do, soccer at 11,no baseball umpires..... ) work called me in 1330-2230 I got zero! So, I lived vicariously through you guys. Great day to be alive
Here is a mature 8 I took late Saturday afternoon. He was following momma doe and a little one.
Great job Tekoa , with traditional gear always amazes me . Beautiful buck Dan congratulations.
Wow what a great start to the season. Congrats to all who scored!
Dan, beautiful buck congratulations. Wachusett, I did shoot it from the ground. Friday I went to an area that I hadn't hunted for a few years. My plan was an all day walkabout to locate an area for Sat/Sunday. Midday I found some oaks with real good feeding sign. I just backed into some laurel about 20 yards from the best white oak and waited. I had three doe and the buck come in at different times between 2 and 3. Buck gave me a twenty five yard shot. State land in Columbia county. Tekoa
Dan6 congrats.
Nicely done Tekoa !!!
BC, Buck-10, Brother, HMax All Well done'
No, not for Moons, They just roll over and die when he walks in the woods. He causes severe "deer-depression" and they just kill themselves. It's true.
Shot a big doe last night on a farm in NH . I wasn't sure about the shot so I backed out. My buddy and I went in at first light this morning . He shot a little doe on the walk in. Then we found my doe dead in the last spot I had seen her. Awesome morning.
Bow3, you shot a cow. That doe is a big'un. Good for you and your buddy. And a nice way to transport and hang a deer or two .
Tekoa I am so stoked for you, great buck! Every deer with trad is an accomplishment. Inspriring sir!
Dan, beating a mature deer, what can feel better. And he's awesome.
You guys have done goodcdofar congrats to all
That's awesome Tekoa, one of my goals is to shoot one from the ground with my bow. I love hunting from the ground, something exciting about being that close to deer at eye level.
Congrats to all on the nice deer harvests. Tekoa, great longbow buck, not easy done with traditional equipment.
Dan great buck! Nice work bowhunt and friend!
Eastern NY Doe last night.
Wow, you guys are Rockin'! I almost feel like I better hurry and get one on the board, but with this longer season there's no rush.
Congrats to all of you, even the little doe's are trophies - trophies in the kitchen!
Bet she didn’t go far! Nice shot ungie
Shot her at 8 yards... she went about 30 yards, stopped, did the wobbly dance and tipped over.
Some great looking deer. Bowhunt, you weigh that?!
Well, I got the tech help.
This was a strong quarter away and I aimed for the back of the ribs to the far leg. Double lung. Unfortunately, the arrow snapped off but the broadhead was recovered. She is resting peacefully in the fridge. Cleanest deer ever.
I followed the Dfa link video and it was indeed a very good method. Thanks, buddy. And this must be my lucky day ... I was post # 69 dude!
Way to go guys, congrats!
Excellent job Ungie and Pi, and everyone. So Opening 2 weeks earlier is a success :)
Nice deer folks!
B and S raises a good point, the number of deer that have been posted here during the "early season" is unreal. Couple that with some FB pics and wholly smokes, there are a lot of deer going down so far this year!
yeah there are Will! I've seen some really nice ones on Bowhuntmass and Boston Bowhunter. My buddy shot a nice 160lb 8pt right over the line in NY 2 nights ago as well.
As of Friday, my local butcher had processed 30+ deer already. Biggest was a 203# brute. Pretty impressive.
Yeah work is going really well dreaming of the 15th and checking out this thread lol.
I've really learned this since starting to hunt in NH and NY early season. I believe early season "can be" almost as good as the rut at times. Me and my buddy watched 2 monsters out eating in the middle of a field a few nights ago at 5:45 pm. Unfortunately I was in a tree 100 yards away. Great harvests guys! Doing very good!
Bigwood's ...say "ghost blind on wheels. " now go do it.
Hey Spike, I feel like a non resident in my own state. Oh wait we're in Western Mass. Great deer guys, congrats !
I can't believe the deer getting shot in Eastern MA so far... and we are here twiddling out thumbs out here in Western MA. If I could have been hunting out here since 10/1 I am confident I'd have a nice one down already... trail cam pics where great the first week of Oct out here... and now, mysteriously, dead... lol
Doe tag filled
Doe tag filled
Stuck this doe yesterday. You can see the exit wound in the picture - it was was a clean pass through. Hit her on the left side behind front leg, hit lung and 4 inch slice on the heart. Nice to b on the board!

Awesome Arch! (Exit?)
Great deer all!
Nice shot Mr. Moons. Funky headgear.
nice job moons! is that the cabon air how ya like it?
Z5 This guy came in with a bad front leg.
Look out deer. Bad Moons rising. Good job guys.
Steveeg he looks fat were you able to tell what he is feeding on I haven’t seen much feed in the woods in z5
Shot this guy oct 15 zone 10. Don’t get out much because of work so feels really good to get one this early
Congrats guys. If this wind dies down here, hopefully I get a chance this evening. Keep up the clean shots and full freezers!
Captain great question. I’ve been holy no acorns what am I going to do. We’ve had some clear cuts locally that I love to hit when this happens which hasn’t been often at all in z5. They look like there eating every piece of green they can. We have 0 acorns on the ground. I watched a skipper nibbling at a rotted log. For about 5 mins. I had to look really close but it looked like little Chinese vege sprouts coming off the log. His stomach was full of green veg.
great meat pole so far. congrats to all you ma hunters! haven't made it out yet but fully prepared once a get a moment. oct. lots of family stuff, sports and bday party's.
Good night little missy. Entrance hole shown with the exit thru the fore armpit. 17yd shot, 70yd recovery. Fixed blade Muzzy MX-4.
Good job Dan6.
C potts great!
October 19th Zone10

Meat for the freezer. Zone 10
Forget to post on the pole. Got this one opening day z5. Now I’m tagged out going crazy. Nh is my next option.
Get up there!! Nice work guys
nice work fellas! Keep it up!
Nice Job Everyone!! Love seeing pics
1 doe tag filled last week. Feels good to have meat in the freezer this early.
She was quartered away and I shot her a bit far back but managed to find both lungs, she went 60 yds and dropped in sight.
Great job guys, some real good eating laying out there! You western Mass guys didn't take long to catch up with these early season slackers back east!
Walking into my spot. Jumped 3 deer, this one stopped at 25 yards. Blessed with a giant doe
Deanman - Congrats!
What did she weigh?
Are you sure that isn't a cow in a halloween costume? Jeeze, you must be on a good food source. Congrats!
Congrats DeanMan, she's a beaut!
A lot bigger than a mouse buddy. Great job !!!!
Wow I hope you weighed her. Congrats
Congrats everyone, hell of a doe DeanMan, glad you had some luck already!
Thank you everyone! Did not weigh her but guessing 140 dressed. I shot her with a rage hypodermic 100grain, ridiculous blood trail.
Dino what a deer! The noggin on her is huge!!! Congrat's man!
You Killed Ms. Biguns ... Check for steroids, she is Olympic big. And don't tell us she is just "big boned" that girl is a blimp.
Sing along guys : There she is ... North America...
Yup, Sunday! Little, bitty, yummy doe, walking home alone in a bad neighborhood - we all know the story...
I have passed a few so far this year and needed some fresh meat and decided next one is getting an invite to several dinners in its honor. She wound up ducking the shot but I got an artery and I watched her cross a river and say her last goodnight! Of course with this rain the river was deeper than my boots are tall, but well worth it. Glad to be on the board finally, even mo' better to have some fresh meat!
Good on you mrw. Bad neighborhood! Good dinner guest. Enjoy.
You know, God has a great sense of humor. Noah was gardening and said we could use some rain, Lord... He wasn't specific and look what he got!
Well done MRW! I have been out of woods for over a week between being sick and work. Probably won't get in this week either then leaving for great North Woods . Ughhh . At least my rut spots will get fresh ;P
Thanks Pi. Mike (B&S), hope you're feeling better. Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on your spots! Corn is still up in the one field, and a few does were meandering that way from across the street when we drove by yesterday.
We need 2 or 3 deer to keep us in red meat, rarely do we eat of the bovine. So this ice breaker for the season makes it possible to feel less pressured and enjoy just being in the woods more.
MRW I know... will he cut the fn corn already!!! I have blinds setup waiting on it !!! Congrats man !
Good work MRW!! When are you guys eating the heart?Daughter must be pumped!
Tonight would’ve been an awesome night to hunt. Saw 30+ deer this afternoon driving around metrowest. Giant ten too. My buddy saw a big buck on the does ass at noon time today. This week should be interesting
Great job MRW. This week should fill the freezer for you !!!
Old man connected tonight in maine. He's never been one to wait and see if something bigger will walk out ;) Nice shootin grandpa
Awesome cougar!! Here’s my doe
Yotes got to him first
Yotes got to him first
Congrats to all that have been fortunate to connect, lot of nice Deer! I just wanted to be near Moons ! Lol. Shot this one at 445 Monday night. Recovered next day. After 12 sits of seeing only 2 I went mobile, scouted a really hot hill with white oaks and rub line , moved a stand in, after the northeaster went through And wind was right I went in.
Great looking deer folks!
Congrats DD sucks about the coyotes
Thanks Moons He came over “opening in the stone wall “ and instead of following run right he came straight off left to me quick, I blatted he wasn’t stopping so I shot him going by me at 10 yards. The blood had gut in it so I backed out. I should have known he was hit bad cause after I hit him I watched him go bye me, his right back leg was up. The arrow clipped the gut but also cut the artery in that back leg because of the angle of shot. The arrow had bright red on fletching and membrane on shaft, so I though I hit liver/ gut. So with gut and liver I figured I better let him lie. I should went in after 5 hr not 10.
Deerdawg, it’s a Tough call to back out. Most times it’s the right thing to do. If given the opportunity I would take one but Im guilty of not pursuing them yotes.
Steveeg I have push to many to soon and you know how that ends. They say when gut hit the deer won’t go more that. 100 yards he hight have been 150 when we found him. I didn’t really see arrow hit deer, I heard it hit, but when he went bye I could see a tuff of hair back and high that looked like a hit. If I get a shot at one I will take it, I want to make a hat out of one one of these days!
Jaime Tocci of Belchertown was scouting for gun season Saturday, of course with bow in hand. He had already taken a small 8-pointer a week ago, and this one walked in on him. Tagged out for 2018. Where? I can only say it was not in Belchertown, it was between Quabbin and the Connecticut River ;-)
Big bucks going down now. Good to see. Congrats to all.
Got to love the 'seeking phase' ;-)
November 5th, zone 10, chasing 2 doe.
Way to go Eastie! Deerdawg, were you able to salvage anything off him? Moons, that's a good sized doe!
Congratulation everyone. Great story Eastie. Tekoa
Nice Bucks Men! They are looking for love. Let's give them some! MRW got the front shoulders, neck and some back straps. Ghost Mount almost done .

Awesome Brett! Skippah, every one with a bow is a trophy!
Two yr drought broken 10/29
My first deer of 2018. This doe walked right under me 10 minutes after sunset yesterday. Windy and warm... was debating not going out. But for these 2 weeks in November, I am not too picky about the weather. She dressed out at 100 pounds even.
Congrats to all you guys! Urban what took you so long ;)!
Nice ones Senior & Urban!
That's weird the double question mark was a thumbs up symbol when I typed it
Looks like that one got into it, snapped points. Cool buck!
Took a doe this morning. After seeing 8 yesterday and 2 more this morning, figured there are plenty left to be bred and my freezer is empty.
Ungie! get that sucka in the fridge and get back out there! Congrats!
Nice buck moons, cool story too

Wow great looking deer what zone?
Ungie!! Nice! Ewade, congrats on a giant
Great deer gents. I miss hunting up there. With the trail camera pics and harvest pics, I believe in the next few years Mass is going to rise as a top archery state for large mature bucks.

Tracked him for almost 8hrs and about 400yds lost blood just after dark at a field edge. I hope he heals up so I can get revenge. He was a stud

Awesome wide one! Congrats
Love that red arrow bowhunt. Awesome buck bonehead
Thanks fellas! Happy thanksgiving!! Good luck the rest of the season
Berkshire county. After suffering a stroke last year , this avid bow hunter wonders if he would ever bow hunt again. I was down in the dumps. Even though I was forced to be retired, I wasn’t digging using a crossbow. Even though I have a lot of time to hunt, I only sat five times this year. But, this week is perennials a good week for the corkers to be running. This guy came by yesterday morning and definitely pulled me out of the dumps. The deer hunting Gods work in mysterious ways. I am extremely thankful . Happy Thanksgiving everyone
Awesome Backwoods! Glad you are back it! Congrats

Wasn’t kidding
Wasn’t kidding
Hi all! Not a bow kill,But I did hunt this buck hard during the archery season! :) Quick story , I took the week off durig shot gun season as always, and witnessed so much HARD chasing still going on! I mean nose to tail pushing the doe around like a rag doll! Both Monday and Tuesday at the same location, gave it a break Wednesday, and seen a spike chasing a doe hot on her tail! Exciting to watch! Fast forawrd Thursday morning, back at where I hunted Mon/Tues at 8:15 this guy came crashing thru a thicket grunting and blowing like he was on a mission! He gave me a 40yd shot, and piled up after his 1st bound! Very grateful to be able to do what I love! Good luck to everyone hitting the deer woods! Get at them, the action is still hot in zone 11
awesome December deer, gentlemen!! way to go!! PSA: there are no deer in Z11 ;)
Awesome bucks tin and Brummm !! Nice shots .
Excellent deer. Put me down for my first muzzleloader harvest. Hawkin. Doe.
Figured I would add it with everyone else’s nov 26 th first morning shotgun
Congrats again everyone, and welcome aboard !
Nothing with a bow, not for a lack of trying, but connected on opening day for meat in the freezer.
Awesome to see all the deer on here - well done everyone!
I think I posted this on another thread but here's my shotgun buck
Great job to all! Seems like a banner year or more people posting? Either way some beautiful deer harvested.
Finally made the board. I started this season with high hopes of harvesting many deer by picking up a new area to bow hunt. Not very many deer seen in most locations and two clean misses changed that. Once the guns went off I had not seen a deer in the woods. This year has been the worst year for me in the last 20 years. At 4pm on last day this guy showed up to help me to put meat in the freezer. Thank you.
Congrats, Rick... way to hang in there until the end.
