I'm heading to the Belle Fourche area with a friend to bowhunt antelope next week. I'm assuming that the rut is over at this point? This is our first time chasing speedgoats and first time hunting in this area. (We are from Minnesota). Any tips for hunting this area and this time of year would be appreciated!

Rifle antelope season is on I believe and I would bet they are weary as all get out. Rut is most likely over. You do like a challenge. Anything is possible. Maybe find a fence crossing point and hope a rifle hunter chases them past you. Some people believe you cant shoot an antelope until they have run at least 12 miles. Changes the flavor of the meat I think. Good luck

If I read it right, rifle ends the 14th and second season archery begins the 15th. Thanks for the response, I definitely am up for a challenge!

I am from KY and deer hunted Belle fourche this past week. Saw hundreds of antelope! Rifle was in but only ran across a couple people hunting. I hunted BLM and walk in on Albion Rd North of town and had a run in with a guide service on that Rd that told me some BLM ground I was on had been sold and was now leased by them. I went to BLM office and they told me it was still BLM land and they had trouble with the same outfit before doing the same thing. Get the avenza map app on your phone download the atlas it works great! If you run across a guide tells you you're on private land be sure and double check!!! The BLM officer is super nice and has office in Belle fourche. As for antelope there was a spot north of Newell that was on I believe Hoover Rd. ( Public ground) saw a bunch of antelope and also first public stuff on left off Albion Rd North of Belle fourche. Econo lodge in Belle fourche was great and the Chinese restaurant lol.

I don't want to cause anyone any problems just want people to be aware it does happen and not to let it turn them off of hunting land that we've all paid for.
