Just curious to see how you made out butchering on your own? I watch that same episode butchering your own game on the meat eater.

The bearded butchers are pretty good. They have a bunch of different videos on butchering and pretty in depth knife sharpening

Haven't done it yet. I had her quartered and she's in a cooler right now. If I don't get to it this weekend I'll have to bring her to the butcher and try to do it next time. Sorry to disappoint. Lol. Very thankful for all the advice though. I will hopefully be doing it soon.

I think I'm gonna give it a try if I get one. I'm just afraid I'm gonna mess it up.

no big thing...its just meat. the tricky part is the packing and freezing.

I've been doing my own and friends for many years. First couple times were nerve wracking but if I messed up on something, guess what....went into the hamburg pile....give it a go and don't worry. all you'll end up with is maybe a little more hamburg...lol

The last deer i got few weeks ago was the first one i have ever brought to the butcher and i did because i have a 18 month old son and it was so warm out so i skinned her took straps an tender loins out an 1/4 her up steaks an hamburg. It just takes time its easy biggest advice if your goin to let deer hang make sure to cut the glands off asap i usually do it in the woods once you have done it a few times it gets easier i can butcher a whole deer with one single knife figuring out how to cut the ligiments around the bone can be tricky take your time
