Well today is the first day I take out a bow. Yeah it sucks. Too much goin on.... unfortunately Ive hunted less this year than anytime in the last 30 years. I'll be toting my compound due to my hunting out of a blind, Ill be meat hunting again as I dont know what lurks ahead in the winter seasons. Bucks in this area are quite active now as my bro killed a nice 8pt yesterday. Grunts And rattles are working! Good Luck and be safe!

Sure was a great day! 7 bucks -2 P&Y, a dozen does...... There was chasin carousin' Flirtin, restin, eatin but no shootin! 1 doe at 8am with her tail straight out 15 yds and here comes a half rack 4 tryin to get a snootful! Let them both walk as she may be the only doe coming in. Paid off as we had quite a show today. First day out with a bow, first all day sit with the big boys just out of range... First chasing and coming in @ 11am and the monster brute at 1:45pm. It felt good:)

LOL! Sounds like a great day Dale! : )
Shawn- don't feel bad- it's meat in the freezer! I've taken my fair share of small deer- I try to only shoot mature does and bucks, but sometimes it's hard to tell.

Yea , thanks rut nut, i keep telling myself atleat wasn't old enough to get bred, sometimes it's better to shoot a first year fawn then a adult doe if you want deer population to go up in that area.

Shooting small deer makes me feel bad too. Until i sit down to eat and then i want to shoot another one.

Rut, I know you shoot those small deer just to prove what a good shot you are, they're a small target and harder to hit. They taste better too. I seem to only shoot small deer too, they are the only ones dumb enough to come in range.

In the blind with Scar the decoy from 8 to noon. One little buck saw him around 10AM and ran for the hills. I was in a stand we moved across the hollow from the blind in the PM and had a close encounter with at least one very mature sounding buck that was tusseling with another one. Intense 20 minutes.

I'm seeing a lot of deer, also a lot of bucks, young bucks, nothing legal. Looks good for the future, that being said, one of those doe's give me a good shot I'm taking it, they taste better, but if a big guy comes by I'm not passing there either

Got out for 1 hour after work yesterday. Had a nice big buck come in behind me. Saw him made a scrape and then a rub. Grunted at him and he was interested. on his way to me he got downwind and winded me at about 50 yards turned 90 degrees and walked out of my life. My heart was pounding and if the wind wouldn't have betrayed me my season would be over. Just one of many reason I enjoy bow hunting so much. Back at it this evening after work. Should be able to get two hours in today.

2 hours of work or hunting? Ha

That’s always a great debate in my mind... would hunting be as fun if I could do it all the time or do life’s obligations make the limited time afield that much sweeter? Anyone who hunts for a living has to be mentally tough to keep after it day in and day out. Plus the pressure to be successful in ever increasing measure would make hunting stressful in ways I am not accustomed to.
It drives me nuts to be stuck at work on a morning like this when I know I would be in the game were I hunting. Well anyway, good luck to all who are out there this morning. Shoot straight and post some pictures and stories to help those of us at work maintain our sanity.

I hear ya Curtis! I'm going nuts here at work with my buddies texting me every 20-30 min reporting bucks chasing doe and every deer sighting! ;-)

Yeah. And I’m going crazy because nobody has reported anything yet today and I know it had to be a good morning.
(Maybe I should be content with the three kill stories and pictures that were reported to me yesterday?)

Happened to look out my door at 4:00 PM today and saw a doe at the edge of the woods 20 yards from the deck. She walked 10 yards past the deck and a 1 1/2 8 point came out grunting the whole way 30 yards behind her. Next thing her fawns came thru chasing them, never saw that before.

I seen 6 buck so far and only 2 were decent. This morning I seen a few doe and decided to leave around 9 cuz I hate hunting in high wind. Hopped in my truck drove up the road about 30 yards and there stood a nice buck. Isn’t that the way it goes!
