Just received this email from the DNR. Have not downloaded the app yet but it sure is a nice effort from our DNR.

"Awesome way for them to track all your movement." Yes, I suppose they could, but to what advantage and at what cost? Have not tried it yet myself.

App works pretty well. Would be even better if they had MFL Open land included. I use it in combination with other tools like OnxMaps, Google Maps/Earth, county GIS maps, and the WDNR web mapping tool.

Had the old app...liked the shooting times portion so I could plan on when to be in the stand!

The new app has shooting hours under plan a hunt. At the moment it only works for your current location. They are working on making it possible for other locations.
I believe they can't put open MFL on because it can change and the vendor can't update the information timely enough.

I have the app and like it. It will send me notifications when hunting time ends on my phone so I don't have to keep checking.
I wish you could punch your tags from it like the app Missouri has. That works slick!

I like the app, has worked well for me so far.
DT, under the menu it looks like you can sign in with your GoWild info and the game registration tab is there also.

I had the old app and liked the shooting time section. The new app will not work on my phone. It works on more current phones and I cannot afford to buy a new phone.
I am using a Samsung S5.

If you are on a "app"....the information they can glean from that gives them more information than 1000 wardens.
People don`t really understand what the object was of the purpose of technology....social media and apps. It`s about collection and use of YOUR data. Your iPhone or any Smart device is nothing more than encyclopedia of your life.

LOL, My kid has that app. I found out. He kept saying how he thought it was still so light out when he would use the time shown. I have told him before and laughingly again that he needs to add 16 min to that time for the zone we are in.

The app will probably not work on my old tech Pantech Breeze 3 flip phone. Hey it works and I can buy them for $25-ish each with shipping.

It uses your location to calculate the correct time for hunting hours. Shouldn't have to do the +/- calculations with the app. as I understand.

Correct Droptine. I really like the app, its much better to navigate thru this one than the old. You do not have to add/subtract for shooting times UNLESS you are in a noncellular service area, then it tells you to add for your zone.

DropTine, you are correct. The app automatically corrects for north/south and how far west you are. What it says is legal shooting for your location.

I downloaded the app last night and played around with it. I was unimpressed. It's now off my phone.

Downloaded it a month ago. Dropped a waypoint while at home, next time I opened the app while at home it said I was 79 miles from home/waypoint. Hunting times show as unknown when I'm in my stand. Time to delete.
