Cottontails and Snowshoes

Hello, all: I build primitive bows, my own arrows, and own a modest collection of vintage recurves. I shoot a lot and am, more than not, a reliable shot. I am, however, both new-ish to Colorado and hunting, generally. I live in Longmont, CO and am looking for any cottontail and/or snowshoe hunting tips/suggestions possible. Not asking for someone’s honey hole—well, unless someone wants to cough up that sort of information??. I am just asking to be pointed in a direction that does not involve too long of a drive, something I can do in a day. I have burned a lot of boot tread small game hunting thus far. Red Feather Lakes (Lone Pine Unit, nothing), some of the Wellington SWAs (the cottontails are too skittish because of all the traffic, waterfowl traffic I suppose), Pawnee National Grasslands (I see jackrabbits but do not want to shoot/eat them), I even drove east, as far as the Red Lion SWA (no cottontails that day). I know about the stretch between Baggs, WY and Craig, CO, but that is too far of a drive for me just to hunt for a day. Plus, the one time I was going to drive over there during the winter, semitrucks were being blown over as a result of eighty-mile-an-hour winds. Not worth it that day. Thanks for your time...
