Not mine... my buddy, Fran (that's his handle here on the Bowsite). He got this dandy 9 point buck first thing this morning. He came in to a can call. The best part... he ran about half way to the truck and died right next to a trail. (Would've been better if he would've ran another 200 yards)

The buck had very little food in his stomach... mostly grass with a bit acorns. I’ve seen bucks chasing does in the same area. Fran said he used the can call one time and immediately heard the buck.

This is why the Ma. forum rocks everyone on here are quick to to congratulate others on there success even if they have not had luck yet I feel we have a hunting bond that spans the state. People give advice and encouragement to those of us who's outcome is less favorable. (We have all been there.)

So thank's guys.

Congrats Fran.

Jimbo, it's not enough that he ran toward the truck? You want him to run all the way to the truck and maybe jump in the back before he dies ;-)

From: Qdiver911

Bruce, it would be nice if he did! Or at least have the decency to jump up on the quad and save us from dragging him up & putting him on the rack! The nerve of some animals.

LOL... that's exactly what I want, Bruce.

Many years ago, a friend and I spent many hours combing a large overgrown field for a buck he shot that ran into it. We did grid searches and concentric searches and didn't find a thing. My friend was really disappointed. But, we gave up and went back to the truck. There, laying a few feet from the tailgate was his dead buck! Now THAT was a cooperative deer.

I keep seeing all these bigger deer in the zone 10 and 11.. and while I am very happy for everyone I can’t but think man I hope it’s not the one that shows up on my camera every couple of days.

Honestly congrats to everyone that’s got one I’m still doing tag soup right now. But I have all next week off so that will change.

TTPi, At 6-30 I hit the can call 1-time and put it down. 2-minutes later I could see him up on a ridge looking for the doe. He stood totally still looking for 10 more minutes before he came in and worked his last scrape.

Thanks, Fran good to know.

I can't call out an echo in a cave right now. Dead woods, except for a smattering of does. Even their young bucklings are MIA. Must be that early doe that pops up here and there. Dfa has one.
