Do you think the big boys will be up and moving during this cold snap? Planning on going out this weekend into Mon and Tues when temps will be in the 30s.

It's the 2nd week of November, the only thing that will stop them from rutting is an arrow.

Beat me to it, Randy. Geez, remember when we were 19? Bucks are like that now, with a thermos of Espresso, a hit of crack and half a bottle of Viagra!

10 degree wind chill in the morning, breaking out the new Iwom. We’ll see how it does.

Yup and I bought the Wooltimate Extreme Stand Hunter Coat and . It is awesome!! Only thing that got cold this am was my hands a bit, even with heat packs. It was 7 wind chill and tomorrow morning supposed to be around zero with wind chill!! Shawn

Ice breaker waders, (KOM) wool and the real chill killer Heater Body Suit and last but not least a bomber style head gear. A lethal combination for frigid weather.

C'mon Shawn you're from NY right :) Seriously though guys...it's just a deer...don't put yourselves in jeopardy! Take what you can take and then take a break!

Was in the stand all day except 1045-1145 today. It was cold. First time I’ve been really cold (only feet and hands) in a while. The wind was brutal in my afternoon stand. Hunted my normal AM stand and the trend of larger bucks continued. I picked up my bow this morning when I saw antlers coming up the ridge. I could have shot him a dozen times - 140-145 9pt but he wasn’t huge so I let him walk by. Saw a couple dinks and a couple does this AM. I don’t know when the wind picked up today - maybe around 11AM but by the time I got in my afternoon stand it was ripping pretty good. I was hunting the edge of a beat up food plot with a ridge behind me and a lot of visibility to my north. It was a constant 15-30 until 445 PM. I had a doe bedded about 40 yards from me and that was all the action until 445. At that point, the wind chill felt like it was in the mid teens and it was dusting snow. The wind died around 5 and the action started. Saw half a dozen does get up out of a sparse group of 10-20 small cedars and behind them came a smaller 8 hauling after them. He broke them up and ran one of them off to the SW. Then a sing horn spike came sprinting from the South and chased off one of the small does. Then, I saw a shooter trailing the biggest doe. He was about 300 yards when I saw him. He followed the doe into the food plot and walked directly toward my tree. He stopped 17 yards away and drank from a low spot in the field when snowmelt had made a mud puddle. I drew, and waited, and waited, and waited. I’ve held at full draw for a minute before but I think this was 3-4 minutes. He just kept drinking, stopped, quartered to me severely, then trotted quickly quartering away from me toward the doe. He didn’t stop when I grunted at him...all focus on the doe and he was gone. 100% shooter for me and probably 99% of the guys on this site. Big 160-165 ten, tall, heavy, and 8-10 inch brows (which I love). Great day in the stand...thanks to the cold weather. Going to be a week or so before I’m able to get back out and in the interim, I’m going to buy a muff. Would have gotten some good footage of him coming in, but my phone got so cold it shut off. The other guys hunting on the property also had a lot of activity and 4 of the 7 hunters saw shooters. One deer was harmed at dusk by my buddy who will begin the search at daylight. Bring on the cold from the 17th-30th because those are the weeks for me.

Had my biggest deer came by at 4:20pm yesterday. I’m guessing +160. 20 yards and it looked like a good shot but he didn’t go down right away. Walked off slow and I think he bedded down. Backed out to wait until morning.

Didn’t get much sleep, appetite gone, and anxious. Ugh. Waiting in the truck for my son to finish his morning hunt then we are going to search. I pray he went down.

Thanks Sito. The thing is I asked my son if he wanted to go yesterday. He passed because his hunting clothes were in the wash. I was going to have him sit in the stand I shot the buck out of. I’m excited, anxious, and worried waiting to look for my biggest buck yet. At the same time I wished he would have went and sit in that stand. Just dad feelings I guess.

LOTS of season left, including the best days, for the boy! What you're feeling is normal, if you didn't feel that way it would be cause for concern...I've got a good feeling!

Found him where I thought he bedded. Looks like one lung, liver, then into the gut. He was quartering more than I thought. Glad I waited overnight. Best buck on my life with 33 years of bowhunting.

The best part...my dad found him and my son helped me get him to the truck. Can’t beat having your 2 best friends with u in a situation like that. Best day.

I never seen the buck I shot before. I seen another shooter 30 minutes before the one I shot and never seen him before either. They are chasing so get in the woods and hunt the wind. Good luck to all other guys on the bowsite.

I saw decent movement this morning. Had one midsize 8 pt st 30 yards and a doe and button buck later at 10 yrds. All ground sits this morning because I didn't get up early enough and lots of vehicles at my stand locations. Gone try to sit the rest of the day in a good stand. Seems like they're moving quite a bit.

Thanks fellas. I’m hunting with my daughter as we speak. We had 3 small bucks come by but she’s holding out. She has a couple nice ones on the wall already and says she going to wait for a better buck. Man it’s been a good day. I’m drinking some cold ones tonight.

How the hell u turn the photo?

COLD..no doubt but deer were moving this evening from about 4pm to dark. Had a tall spike walking with a limp down the trail right passed me. He had a broadhead sticking out his lower right side (the side exposed to me) right behind the arm pit of the right leg. He couldn’t quite walk with a full stride or else the back of the leg would obviously hit the broadhead. It seemed like he was getting along OK and watched him go under a fenceline no problem. He looked healthy and the area around the little bit of exposed arrow shaft was black so maybe he is healed up from an early season shot or something? Anyway, I just let him continue on down the trail and after dark checked the trail he walked just to make sure he wasn’t bleeding. I found no blood or even spec’s of blood in/around his tracks left in the snow. I feel pretty confident he will make out OK. “Brutal weather days in the woods are still better than the best days at work!”

So this last weekend I had a few bucks up and moving daylight. On Saturday afternoon had a big 10 pt that i rattled in but he caught a scent trail and wouldn't come off it no matter how many grunts/snort-wheeze/rattles i gave him. He was about 50 yds through thick brush. Also had this guy that came up to about 10 yds after a rattle and grunt combo. Decided against taking him, his rack was interesting, almost white in color and seemed underformed. Wonder if he was sick when it was growing this year. Anyone seen something like this before?

Gobbler yes. Yesterday dropped kids off at school and went and sat. Seen a buck by 8:15 sat till ten because I wanted to look at tracks in the snow before it was gone. I had bucks on camera 7:45-12:30. I thought I had everything figured out on this new property but the tracks in the snow told me a different story. Grabbed a stand and the fourwheeler and was off to hang a new set. Done hanging the set looking at it a buck walked right up the trail until he past a cedar tree and saw the fourwheeler. He didn't see or wind me but he didn't like that fourwheeler and took off. So yes definitely sit as much as possible these next few weeks.
