Thanks. I've taken a couple over the years and this one had the least amount of fat. I suspect that they will den up early with the lack of food.

BB, Regarding the face paint you are spot on. Many years ago I was hiking with my wife. She was pushing through a bedding area while I waited and watched. No deer showed but you could see her white face coming through the pines at 100 yards. Just the face. There is a reason deer and rabbits have white tails. Wear the paint, or mask. Tekoa

I think this was the same bear that I saw opening day, same basic area. I had a vacation day and planned to spend the day bowhunting for deer. My wife was leaving for work and heard something heavy walking in the woods behind the house. A bear has been spotted in the area quite a bit lately so I took a chance and swapped the bow for my rifle, I just planned to make a quick loop on my property, if nothing then I'd head out bowhunting. Spotted him (her) at about 60 yards and made the shot. Ran 50 yards and dropped. Model 94 .32 Win special. Wish there was more to say about the hunt but sometimes you just get lucky. Tekoa

Wife just got home saw a big bear crossing the road by our house I'm still sick with flue been down for 6 days still feel like sleeping all the time
