Super proud of my son who got his first archery kill! He grinded through a lot of blown stalks and long days before finally being rewarded with a public land mule deer. 51 yard shot, right into the boiler room.

Awesome! He's on the right track with a supportive dad helping him.
What bow/poundage and broadhead?

He used a Bear Cruzer G2 at 40# with G5 Montecs. The broadhead had penetrated the opposite shoulder but not completely punched through the hide. At that distance and poundage, I was impressed. Deer went about 50 yards before expiring.

Congrats. Persistence pays off! And a great example that you don't have to shoot high poundage bows. Just practice and know you equipment and it amazing what you can accomplish. All part of what archery hunting is about!
