Are there any food plotters on here around Greenwood County? I have a tractor and a disc but no seed drill and I keep them almost 60 miles away from my farm. I’d just like a quote for 12 acres to be planted to alfalfa this spring after the frost.

Have you contacted the local CO-OP?

I know the owner. He farms my place but I don’t think he wants to mess with alfalfa

Alfalfa is considered to be expensive and difficult to establish.... I've thought planting it but have always went with clovers instead.

That's why I'm looking for a professional plotter. The local farmers don't plant it much anymore. Growing up, dad and I hunted the stuff almost exclusively because that's where we always saw deer.

I grew up hunting alfalfa also. Don't see much of it around anymore. Good luck finding someone.

There's quite a bit of it down in SC Kansas Jason, call one of the COOP's in Clonmel, or Harper, or Anthony, etc...betting they can at least guide ya.

I broadcast my alfalfa, but planted mine in october.I like to broadcast lightly going one direction then from crossways to cover any weak spots. With 12 acres are you going to have someone cut for hay?If you are alot of times the guy that you sell the hay to will plant .Not as many using alfalfa now,if you don't sell thats alot of mowing.Biggest this is to make sure you have no low spots that stay wet as they will kill the alfalfa
