Leatherwood Outdoors and John Royer. Make the best hunting videos I have watched. UNlike most of the high production big money TV shows which are just shoot and kill shows. John's videos are informative, demonstrating BEFORE, DURING and AFTER the shot information that will help even the most seasoned hunters improve. I have no affiliation with John or Leatherwood outdoors but have learned a TON about archery, rifle and flintlock hunting from his WESTER PA hunting videos.
I like how he uses the sound of the CRICK to prevent deer from hearing him.
On a raining Sunday two weeks before the Flintlock season what better to do than watch some excellent PA hunting videos.
Yea I've been watching there videos for years, they got land in clarion county pa, and I think they hunt in Armstrong county too, some of them hunt with recurves.
Ive seen some of their videos and enjoy them. Seemed a little dramatic about the dead bucks in this one. It would certainly be disappointing, but the words he used/how he explained what he THINKS happened and his analysis of it left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
Having said that, we had a really nice buck frequenting our ground last year(for the first time since we bought it in 2012) and on the first day of rifle, a guy on the neighbors property took a pot shot at that buck running full out thru brush because he “knew that if he got 75 yards farther he would get onto your property” and it was probably his last chance. He ended up hitting him low in the foreleg and turned the buck around. He got killed later in the day by another hunter after the original hunter jumped him. Took some kahunas to admit to my buddy he took a pot shot he knew he shouldnt, i dont think i would have had a very good filter on that if i was there. But im not perfect either, i’ve taken shots i probably shouldnt have.
Anybody would be disappointed at someone wounding a deer, and a nice buck specifically. But the hunter had every right to shoot at legal deer too and those were dang nice deer at that, and ur speculation on what happened is just that so tone the dramatics down a bit. Just my opinion, maybe noone else felt that way
Yea every hunters not perfect , I've lost a few deer during archery season do to not a perfect hit makes you feel real bad but got to shake it off. I love there bowhunting and flintlock videos.
I've met Ron at a gun show Royers friend.
Well, I agree a little over-dramatic and lots of speculation, but then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure it has to be quite disheartening to find 3 nice bucks in 2 yrs that wander onto your private property to die. Especially if you are practicing QDM and trying to get the bucks into the older age classes. When my father-in-law had his property it was tough to swallow when we found dead deer that we knew we did not shoot. Add to that the problems of people not respecting posted property and trespassing regularly, and I can see his frustration.
We are agreed on those points Rut
Really like their videos. Check out the rattlesnake hunting vids they have. Pretty cool. OTOH, Rut you may want to pass.
Uh, NO THANKS Bowbender! I’ll pass on the evil serpent videos! ;-)
