So I really do hate the place, but my son was invited to another birthday party and wanted to get the kid a gift certificate. Well we walk in and I go to just walk up to the gift cards and I see some camo clothes on the discount rack . I look at the tags and was surprised, grab some stuff and think no way this is right. Well it was !

Dude, that's a steal! I hear you, I hated to go there last week, but I got a 50 dollar gift card for Christmas . Found a pair of light weight under armour boots, 120, marked down to 99, 50 percent off of that came to 49.98, perfect for early season! The card was 50, so now I'm done, I swear! Lol
I love America and the 2nd amendment way to much to ever shop at Peckers sports again. If you love your country you would tell family and friends to just give you the cash so it can be spent anyplace else. I cut up 4 pecker gift cards up on Christmas night. It was one of the best parts of my holiday and the fact that I did it in front of my family that got them for me made my point that I will not stray from my values for cheap products. F- Dicks.

A few years back, I found some camo gloves in the "markdown" bin ( mis-marked) for 5 cents. I Gave up a dime and got a Nickle change. That was fun.

By cutting up the gifts cards you just doubled Dicks profit. They get the sale of the gift card value and still get to sell the merchandise to someone else for profit.
Xi they may have won the battle but I won the war. No one from my family will ever spend a penny at that place again. I hope the $150 bucks goes a long way for the good guys at dicks. We are not going to run them out of town or keep them in the game. There is too much other merchandise to buffer the assault. Do what is true to your personal well being and leave the big picture up to ( you know who) .

I'm ok with capitalism, so I still buy things there if needed. Drive 30+ minutes to local gun store or Cabelas if a hardcore firearm thing is needed. If I need a pair of Columbia pants for a work event, Dicks works.
If enough people dislike the stance they have on guns so they fold or stop selling hunting stuff, well, capitalism.

Dicks can sell what they want to, and not sell what they don't want to. As the saying goes, it's a free country. That freedom isn't only for me.
I tell my kids I'd like Dicks gift cards for my birthday, Christmas and Father's Day. I've bought plenty of hunting stuff, golf stuff and tennis stuff there.

I never said anyone here is un-American I only stated that Dicks has turned its back on Americans that support the 2nd amendment. When America is no longer the home of the free but is instead the home of socialism because of big money and lobbyist that fight everyday to strip your freedom away I’ll be able to say I tried my best not to support those that fight against our values. Everyone is FREE to spend their money where ever they want, but when freedom is gone I hope your cheap products make you happy when you are a socialist sheep.

Saugus and danvers ma sell guns and ammo. Those are really the only 2 I've been too. Danvers has tons of hunting stuff too

Maybe I am wrong but didn't the controversy start with Dick's refusing to sell AR -15 type weapons? Personally I have no problem with that. But then again I like Bowhunting better than gun hunting. Cannot imagine hunting anything other than a coyote with an AR.
VT. I don’t think they turned their backs on America and the second amendment. I think they are doing what every business wants to do. Make money. This cracks me up. Ban dicks because it put a stance on guns. Where were you guys banning dicks because they became a big conglomerate and put the little guy out of business. Everything outdoors and cheaper prices than the mom and pop stores that are what built America in the first place. Buy everything in large quantities so the little guys can’t Compete on pricing and eventually have to close their doors. Didn’t see anyone complaining about how they were cheaper than your corner gun store. Why? because it was convenient to drive to the shopping mall strip and just pick out a gun out of the hundreds they had behind the counter for cheaper than anywhere else. Now that the ease of buying the guns are starting to be taken away you are up in arms about it. How about a true American gun shop ?? You know the kind that you walk into and the guy behind the counter actually knows what he is talking about. Some one who has grown up with guns and knows what the ballistic difference is between a .223 and a .338

Fact is if you own a business and you are not making money in a certain area of it. Are you going to continue to lose money in that area, or are you going to try and improve on it???
If Americans aren’t buying camo or guns or fishing and hunting equipment I see it as not as many people are interested in it as before. That is the underlying problem. It isn’t a way of life as it once was and that is the cold hard fact. What have we done to encourage the kids of America to be interested in what we have a passion for ???

They have their right to not sell guns, and run their business as they feel fit, just as you do to not shop there. Nothing wrong with sticking to your own principals. I just dont get all the anger people have towards them. I am not a "dick supporter" (see what I did there), but people hear things about a business, and they feel they need to make some grand statement. If people only knew how many companies that they use everyday, have some type of policy/practices, that can be considered "against gun rights or the hunting community". Not supporting a business is fine for your principals but dont expect its part of some grand movement to run a business down. Just doesnt usually work that way.
To those of you that want to love Dicks that’s ok. Just know that every time you shop there a percentage of your money funds the lobbyists that work everyday to strip you of your rights. It starts with no AR’s then it’s you’ve got to be 21 and then it’s no gun for you. That’s how rights are stolen. Slowly so it does not create an uprising but once the rights are removed they never are given back. So shop away guys.
As to those that are joking about socialism where do you think this country is heading. We now have self proclaimed socialist operating in our government. Ya, I refuse to step foot in there and other places as well. REI has been on my list for a while. I try not to get involved in political discussions. However we are like minded and have very similar interests. It is bad enough that politicians are trying to wipe out the things that are important to us, but now they are using their resources in the consumer and financial sectors to force policy changes without actually changing the policy.
I am willing to play that game, but we need everyone to do so as well. I have no problem speaking with my wallet and hopefully taking down those who wish to eliminate my freedoms and ability to do what I enjoy.
Oh, and as of yesterday, I added Gillette to the list. WTF are they thinking about that ad? Shaming me for being a male, c'mon. Stick to selling razors. I just started looking into a good electric razor. It would solve my problem of shaving without shaving cream during hunting season. Pete

I don't buy from my local Dick's just because every time I have gone in there to get sneakers, etc., I feel like a have to beg some lazy ass entitled kid working to get me my size. Like I am totally inconveniencing them to put their phone down and do their job. And I'm even nice about it. The last time I was in there I took my shoes and ladder stand and put the cart in the aisle and left... I could not patronize somewhere where I felt like my business was in inconvenience. And this all happened before the gun drama ensued... And when in the hunting section I have to listen to some guy working there tell me about how unbelievable of a hunter he is and how he killed blah blah blah and how I should use this or that... and how much bigger his deer (that he missed or tracked for miles) are than anyone else's.... I don't have time for people like that anymore... Hahaha.. ok.. I'm done venting. No Dick's for me... but that is my reason.
