With the late start to the bow season this year,.. not going to get much time on the clover plot before it kicks it due to cold,..
Thinking of converting even more of it to whiter wheat, oats or brassicas,.. etc ?

You are 100% right. My advise is brassica blend of raddish and turnips , then about the 3rd week of September right before a rain over seed it with winter cereal rye(not rye grass....big diff)

many years ago I did two plots in the same clearing...one with a rape seed & turnips and one with winter rye. the rape seed/turnips were hit all late summer, and fall. the winter rye didn't get touched until january.
