New String Tuning Help

I placed new strings and Cables on my Realm X and I have a few questions.
1) Does it make sense that the yoke cables on the right side (right handed bow) have more twists than the left? I would think that makes sense because of the cable guard pull. Right side is much closer.
2) Does measuring the ATA not makes sense at the outside of axles because they are so wide on the Realm X? On one side I am at 33 1/4 and the other side is almost 33 7/16. I paper tuned at 6 feet and this is where I was getting perfect travel. I'm not too worried about because I am getting good arrow flight, but just curious how to properly measure the ATA. I am assuming it should be as close to the cam as possible.
3) I lost poundage. 4 pounds. I do not want to mess with my draw length. My brace height is an 1/8 inch shy of spec which should be 6 1/2.
I put it on my draw board and my timing is off at full draw, which I am in the process of tuning by twisting/untwisting cables. So, when I get timed correctly, is my only option to untwist the string? Can I get back my four pounds? Twisting the cables would reduce my brace height, which I do not want to do.
This one has me stumped so far. Pete
Papertune closer, about 1’/2’ away, further back you go the more time the arrow has to correct itself .
Peter - Hunt back and look for Shawn's posts. The guy is a wizard. Find one of his posts and PM him.
Thanks Will. Just tried the search function but for some reason it is not working. Uggh.
I will tackle the bow again tomorrow night. There are only so many things to twist. I guess my goal is to get as close to spec and tune from there.
Or easier go to a shop for help and not drive yourself nuts.
Pete........ it may just be me but seems like you over think things!! Haha. Go to ten yards sight it in. Go to 20, sight it in... so on and so forth. Go kill em in the fall
Oh I totally over think these things. It's either this or think about work all the time. This is better :)
Actually kinda jealous I don’t or never did get into tinkering around with bow setup much. Definitely has advantages. Luckily I got pretty friendly with with a shop owner and he has always taken care of me. Wish I new more though or better said wish I had the time!
Sometimes you just need a night to sleep on it. I needed to add twists to the top cable to get it into sync at full draw. Then add twists to both cables to increase the draw weight, which also started to tweak brace height a bit. I am not up to the original max weight, settling on 58 pounds. Good enough. Shooting well through paper and my alignment is nearly identical to the original setup (use an anchor sight). Next is to walk back tune and BH tune.
JBK strings, which appear to have nice servings that should not separate like the originals did, with custom colors. Also removed the factory string stop and added a Cool Hand Luke string stop. Makes a quiet bow even quieter (supposed to reduce vibration as well).
I retired my Timberline No Peep and went with an Anchor Sight. It is really nice. Larger and easier to see in periphery. Much easier to adjust and set up. Will, I think you are a timberline user. I have been using the Anchor Sight for several weeks now. It is a nice upgrade.
It is almost ready to hunt.
Hahahaha I hear ya!! Good luck!
Go to 10 yrds and site in. Go to 20 yards and site in and so on and so forth. Go killem in the fall. Lmao! Listen to the moon!
Walk back tuned and things were shooting great. Then BH tuned. BH was hitting to the right of the FP so I moved the the rest ever so slightly. Success; BH and FP started to line up at 40 yards. Adjusted the sights and good to go. The bow is now shooting better than I ever will. Went back to the paper and still seems to be coming straight off the string (not that it matters at this point). I am done................. for now.
