We had a slow day. Fifteen tilts, seven hits and only two bass. Aside from it being really slow, they would run like hell with the bait then let them go. WTF? Good to be out though. Fun day with family and friends. Pete

Dang fish in that area will eat up anything green. Put out an underwater sign, "free hook" and you get a stupid fish in seconds.

Ok, cool as heck to get a bowfin through the Ice - super cool prehistoric looking fish for sure, and dont mind putting up a heck of a fight either. That's awesome!

Very good to see you all getting out and catching fish!

We had a nice day yesterday. Two brookies and a half dozen perch. We fillet the perch hit em with batter and into hot oil. Amazes me every time how tasty those little buggers can be. Trout were cooked whole. That wasn't too bad neither. Pete

Nice guys! If the ice makes it through the warm rain tomorrow we should be fishing for at least a couple more weeks. I was out after work yesterday and first thing this morning. Anywhere from 5-8" of ice depending on how much sun time that part of the ice gets, coastal z10.

Nice fish guys! They were biting well last week. Had a MONSTER bass snap my line the other day. Took a hard run right by the hole, swam upward and caught my mono leader under the sharp edge of the ice. I just caught a quick glimpse of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was well in excess of 5 pounds.

Bj. Your fish is red!!!! Are you ice fishing on salt ??? Little confused by these pics of what looks like a salmon and a red fish ???? Looking at the pics they are from the same hole. I can tell what is from a kettle pond but never saw something like that. Please educate me on this one !!!!

Hahahaha. Now that’s funny. Thought the pic was a little funky but am not the one to call Out anyone unless there is def proof. What’s funny is the fish didn’t really throw me off but the placement of the tilt and line on the ice is what did you in. Then I noticed a pink fish. Nice salmon though hope you took that home and ate it !!!!

05-Mar-19
Hahaha! I scrolled past this quickly earlier today and thought you had a huge Laker, but I was also really confused by the red fish.

Trying to get out this Sunday. I’m on the South Shore and still see open water. Where’s the ice?

From: xi

Bow, 16+ here. Western mass

I went out for an hour this afternoon. Ice is weird in my area of z10. Some places on the pond had the thickest ice I've seen all winter and other areas of the pond had a thick layer of slush and water on not so great ice. That heavy snow and stronger March sun are doing strange things to the ice. Be careful out there.

From: Bowbeard

That’s a little vague, besides I consider Central Ma to be Western Ma, ha! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looks like I’m going to have to take a short road trip.

Took the kids after their swim "meet" Saturday. Hit an isolated little pond on the Hubbardston Princeton line. We got several nice perch on tip ups and jigging and one blue gill. For 2hrs, it was good. Warm - which was good as in my rush to get everyone out and get the gear set I totally forgot to grab my coat... Just enough snow on the ice to provide traction and for me the best part...

12-14" of ice consistently. The first 1-2" may have been a bit soft, but under that, the rest was beautiful black hard ice. This week and the longer days will eat at it... but I was impressed for this late in the year, how much there was.
