It looks like the thought that prions are the cause of CWD my NOT be the case at all. In this video, Dr. Frank Bastion proposes that the the prion is caused by the infection of a strain of spiroplasma, meaning that it is a by-product and not the cause of the disease. He touts that a cure WILL be available soon. Very interesting:

I do see some irony here. If this vaccine does indeed prove to be workable, about the only way to disperse it throughout the herd is by feeding—read that as BAITING.
So… after all these years of claims that baiting spreads the darn stuff, the only practical way to administer it's cure is by baiting.
