Representative Brad Roae (R) District 6- parts of Crawford & Erie Counties, has introduced House Bill 514 that would merge the PA Game Commission with the PA Fish & Boat Commission. Most sportsmen's organizations in PA and many hunters have always opposed such a merger of our game and fish agencies. Contact your legislators if you oppose this proposal.

What's his stand on Sunday hunting??? Trying to take the heat off Sunday hunting?? I don't know one fishermen or hunter that's ever been for a merge.. You want to see what a merge did??,,, Go on the Colorado forum and ask the guys on there what it did when game and parks merged.. I think that most that supported it, now know it was a big F-up.. Ed

Neutral on it, I suppose, until I get more info. I am OPPOSED to any merger (Game or Fish or both) with DCNR, with funding coming from the General fund and license dollars. I am still trying to determine if the negatives (if any), of a merger between just Game and Fish outweigh the positives. It is my assumption, although it may be naive, that they would still be funded solely by license fees and pittman robertson funds. A combined agency could definitely save on A LOT of overhead costs.
Thoughts?

Supposedly, the cost savings aren't all that great. That said, 49 other states have combined agencies.

I'm for the merger, wouldn't save a lot at first but with retirements you could save a bunch cutting upper management by 50%. The slow time for fish wardens is during hunting season and the slow time for game wardens is when most people are fishing.
You ever wonder why Penna. is always one of a couple states that do things different than 90% of the other states.

DO NOT support this! Let your elected official know your sentiments NOW. If you don't know how...there is that information in your Blue Pages.
