Wondering if anyone hunts New York around Northeast Pa. Years back I used to hunt in, just south of and also just west of the Catskills. Did it for about 10 years and am thinking of starting back this year I would archery deer/bear hunt and spring turkey hunt. I was nice being that you could hunt Sundays. I would take my RV up the night before.. I mostly hunted public land and rarely saw anyone back then as the bowhunting bug didn't seem to have hit NY like it did Pa. Last year why up camping I stopped into a sporting shop and chatted with the own and he stated that hunter numbers were at a all time low. Camps that on opening day rifle would have 20 cars at, dont have half that anymore. So I'm thinking once spring hits to start check my old hunting ground out.
Anyone interested in hunting Ny state?

I had a cousin who owned a farm near Addison, NY in Steuben County. Deer hunted there many time & hunted spring gobblers on all the neighboring farms. I never saw anyone hunting gobblers..

Did you ask Rutnut? He might go if NY is too far north for snakes.

LOL! I have considered hunting NY in the past, but the nearest NY public hunting grounds(that I am aware of) appear to be over an hr drive from me. Not a deal breaker, but is somewhat of a deterrent. When I retire and have more time to hunt, it will probably be more realistic.
