Turn in a Poacher Reward

Maybe I just never noticed this before, but the ILDNR now has a web page form to electronically turn in poachers. See link. Notice the state is so broke it's the ONLY one I have hunted in that has zero reward for successful prosecutions. That includes 10 states. Hell out west most give you a free trophy deer/elk tag for doing so. But all our funds go to state employee pensions.
I wonder when the state defaults on all these fantasy pensions, if there will be money for some of these other basic services? Or if's it's gonna be like a chapter 11 bankruptcy where they just reorganize and there's still nothing left for basic stuff. Curious if the 1980's Back to the Future DNR website will get upgraded then too. Would also be nice to have a draw results link that doesn't shut off at night (who else does this?).

Check out Iowa's rewards. And this isn't even a western state that has trophy big game tags to offer. Even for squirrels & fish! Another example of how Illinois is broken due to corrupt politicians.

Shouldn't you be more worried about moving out to Hoosier land than what happens here?

I've turned in several poachers in my life. Never once thought I deserved a reward for doing so. Thought of it as an obligation really. But that's just me.

I’ve turned in three in the last five years in Illinois for nothing but a thank you. However, most people “don’t want to get involved”. Thus the rewards. It works. That’s why every other state does it. Only Illinois is too cheap.

Bottom line - If we had rewards, many more poachers would be caught & prosecuted. 90% of the other states agree. Relying on us good samaritans doesn't cut it.

Feeling has nothing to do with it. It's just the facts.

Now that's a stretch. Comparing illegal and nefarious political abuse to simply buying a hunting license legally per state guidelines? And even passing a random screening from an Illinois Conservation Police Officer who showed up at my door unannounced. Sounds more like jealousy to me. You could have got one too, but you made the decision not to. They didn't hand them out for free. You had to pay $210 and go through a lengthy qualification period. When I bought mine I had no idea if I'd ever need it. It was a gamble. Took 12 years, and only moved when forced out, but it finally paid off yesterday. Good things come to those who wait.

Zim do you ever sit back and enjoy life? Who really gives a F#@K about who else pays what or where they live. We are all free to move wherever we choose. Even though we are getting screwed by politicians and taxes, maybe we make a great income, enjoy our neighborhoods, medical care, fabulous food selection option, PUBLIC & Private hunting lands. Stay east of us and enjoy life.

Well actually for my job I travel the entire states of Illinois and Wisconsin, plus parts of 4 other states. So I can’t stay east of you. I will definitely be sitting back and enjoying life on my front porch when JB’s bill gets passed. I guarantee that.

Guys leave him be. Zim is an internet troll who gets off on this. You can tell because he posts a response almost instantly after you make a comment. For someone who is moving I would think checking and commenting on Bowsite would be the least of his concern. Just let him go.

awh302, The reason I have been posting on Bowsite so much lately is because I signed my home contract January 30, and had all my boxes packed within 7 days. Spent all February making calls and preparations on stuff like fund transfers, insurance, utilities, mail, job, HR, physicians etc. So I finished all this a week ago. Also this is hunting application season, so I've been doing a lot of work on that this March.
