Did SB-586 pass? Anyone know???

Does anyone know if we are going to have a black bear season??? Spread sheet seems empty but maybe one of you have some inside scoop?
They had a Public Hearing on Friday. The process has a number of additional steps before it can become law.
Ahhh. I thought friday was the vote.
Unfortunately, the process is a long one, and the odds are against us. 99%+ of the hunters in CT will not make a call, write an email or show up at a public hearing. You would think that the 60 seconds it takes to write an email wouldn't be too much to expect from someone, and you would be wrong.
The ant-hunting and anti-gun folks smell blood in the water this year. They are very well organized, and they are motivated. We are about to get our ass handed to us, and yet ... crickets from so many.
John, I know that you sent in testimony (thank you) But for anyone else reading this:
If you have not done it: SEND A DAMN EMAIL, the address is: [email protected]
It can be as long or as short as you want it to be. " Please support Senate Bill 586 to allow a bear hunt. " or " Please Oppose House Bill 6014 restricting trapping. "
Just remember that what you send is available for all to see, so keep it clean and polite.
Just sent an email in regards to these bills Ace.
Good job guys! I really hate it when we get out maneuvered by Anti spewing lies.
I've sent a bunch of testimony in and not once has my name shown up, I did receive acknowledgement that they received them. It looks like they don't seem to be updating after the first rush of written testimony comes in. Bill 5700 (sales tax on ammo) only has one written testimony entered on-line for some reason. I urge you to go on and read some of the testimony and that will encourage you to send in an email. One guy rants about hunters and trappers being blood thirsty killers and then his last bill is to support growing pot....lol. I agree, keep at it.
The Testimony is usually sent in (and posted) when there is a Public Hearing scheduled. HB 5700 (50% Ammo Sales Tax) has not had a Public Hearing Scheduled.
If you sent Testimony that is not listed and you want to get it listed, CALL THEM. I did that, and I was told that while sometimes they are behind schedule a little bit, they also do not list every single one if it's a copy of several other emails. She said they all get passed along, but not all listed. That's another reason to write some original words, and don't just copy and paste.
I wrote in favor of pink cause crow likes pink, did get an email acknowledgement..lol
Thanks for the info Ace, good to know. Mine were not form letters. I don't care if they are listed or not, just as long they are passed along to the correct people.
Maybe marv Albert inspired marks for the back..lol
Can someone explain why bear hunting has to be passed by the Senate. Why doesn’t DEEP have the authority to make their own regulations? Has every regulation in the hunting and fishing guide been passed by the Senate at some point? Using a single barb hook to fish for broodstock salmon? How does this all work? It seems ridiculous. Please enlighten me someone. Thanks
If I am not mistaken, bear hunting is either specifically prohibited by CT statute or not within the scope of what the DEEP can regulate by CT statute. The DEEP can only make regulations within the scope of their authority under CT Statutes.
I don't think the DEEP is does not have the authority to act on bear hunting without a change in statutes.
Smooth, I sent you a PM.
Some things are not actually Laws (statutes) but some are, for example, the Sunday Hunting Prohibition. Most of what we deal with are regulations, not statutes.
Ace, for bear hunting does the DEEP have the authority, but not the political will, to enact a season without legislation?
I was under the impression that they needed legislation. If the DEEP has the authority but is to too scared to exercise it, it will probably never happen.
Trophy hunting? Not quite the same as a nuisance. Misled and I'll informed leaders making decisions
Haha timber wolves and trophy hunting. God these people are dumb...
I want whatever they are smoking.... wow, they are so out of touch in Hartford (and at the Federal level)
Just goes to show how many stupid people in CT are electing these morons.
We should reintroduce the T-Rex and help control the politician population.
