Calling all you westies!!! Heading out to Springfield this afternoon for hockey tryouts. Have them at 8 pm tonight but am leaving early to make sure we don’t hit the dreaded traffic on the pike. Anyone have any good recommendations for a restaurant to eat in the area. Doesn’t have to be in Springfield but somewhere close that is on the way from cape cod to there. Small family restaurants are what we like not the big chains.

Casino has some good restaurants if you dare to brave downtown. If money is no issue there is a few by the hall of fame. Cross the bridge into West Springfield and there is a bunch of stuff on rt5 heading north but mostly the chain variety.

Awesome guys thanks. Keep them coming!!!

How about Cal’s wood fired grill and bar???

Ungie his tryouts are for the 05 Springfield rifles at the Olympia ice center. He needs a half season U14 team to take up the slack of the shorter season at Eaglebrook

Olympia is a cool place. Never been to Cal's personally. There is a killer German place called the Student Prince on Forte St.

Dth, as stated Fort is real great. Cals is over rated. Frigos' is incredible but not really a restaurant, just a little Italian market. Definitely Red Rose also. There's a lot of chain places real close to the Olympia.

Go to the Parthenon in agawam ma. More food than you can eat 15 to 20 a plate. Get the pot roast. Real home cooked food. Lots of specials and you’ll have a second meal from not being able to finish what they serve ya.

In West Springfield try 'On The Border' if you like 'chain' Mexican - great margaritas. Also nearby are a 5 Guys Burgers and Hooters. ;-)

DFA kills it with the funniest post ever.

I got nothing on the chow... But if you want to drive the 20-30' north on 91 to NoHo, there is Osaka Japanese Hibachi which is AWESOME and Veracruzana which is amazing Mexican.

Good luck to the boy!

aww crap. I just read the post. We had our friday nite fish fry at Swift River Sportsman club here in Belchertown...We have them every friday 5 to 7pm.....It's a good place for a pretty good dinner with a bunch of other sportsmen and women. Fun times for all.

Greatwhite is correct about Milano's. Red Rose is fine too. It all depends on what you're craving. And I second the Swift River Fish Fry recommendation ;-) (Missed last night, will be there next week.)
