Was out shed hunting this afternoon and came upon this sickly deer. It would stand for minutes at a time staring at me from 10ft, then gingerly walk a few steps in a staggard fashion. A couple times it fell to its knees and got up slowly. Its face/snout looked grayish. It had no visible wounds. My first thought was elderly deer succumbing to Mother Nature. What do you guys think?

Im going with internal injuries prob from being hit by a car. She looks hunched up almost like a stomach hit.

This was out in the boonies, middle of deep woods, mile plus in.
Here's the last video I took before turning my back on her & walking away.

Looks like an internal issue, looks like it hurts to run.

Might have slipped on ice and fractured something. Surprised she made it this far.

Since the deer was near water it could be the same hemmoragraphic disease they found south Middletown.

That's usually a fast progressing disease (weeks), from sand midges or some kind of biting midge.. not sure those hatched even with the "warm spell" we had.
Either way.. that sucks

The water was from snow/ice melt in a low laying area at the bottom of a steep ridge; lots of run off. It was warm the past few days prior to encounter.

Definitely really sick/hurt. Just the way it stands and how skinny it looks. Nature is not kind...
