Gonna try this for the first time in an area that won't allow shotguns. Also will be in the stand. Bought special turkey broadheads that open up but grab with little meat hooks too to prevent full passthru. Any pointers or suggestions? Thank you. Mad Dog

Portable ground blind. If using decoys ,set hen facing away from blind. Face jake or tom decoy towards blind. Blind doesn't seem to bother turkeys like it does deer.

I think "in the stand" may be a detriment...too restrictive and you're tied to one spot. I've gotten a few turkeys with the bow. My first was in a blind using a deek, my second was using a deek sans blind, my third was sans blind or deek. This spring, I'm going to use a deek which attaches to my stabilizer. I never use deeks or blinds when gun hunting (unfair advantage IMO) but, for the bow, will do so. I made my bow deek by using an old unused Feather Flex jake, cut him up and attached a real mature gobbler fan. Painted him up a bit and, voila, ready to go. I'll be trying him out in KS in a few weeks.

I love hunting them with a bow. I use my pop up blind in a corner of a field. Turkeys do not shy away from the blind.
In my set up I use two Jake decoys and three hens which mimicks the small flocks early in the season on the farm.
I place the two jakes just 10 yards in front of my blind about 10 yards apart. One hen decoy is out about 20 yards and the other two are a little closer but none of the decoys are close together. I make sure they are visible from the woods. When the Toms see the two Jake's stalking the hens, and they commit, they will come right in past the hens and strut around the Jake's giving you an easy shot.
I hope this helps......

I run counter....I have zero interest in a blind and carrying decoys (and w/ a gun I'd say thats cheetin'). Natural set-ups, regular broadhead, poke around, look for sheds...
