I'm driving down highway 54 east of Plover tonight and see some eyes glowing. I slow downing thinking it might be a deer. As I get closer I cam see its a bunch of small mammals so I assume its a family of raccoons. Finally once the group is in my beams and I can see them there is a group of about 6 gray weasel type animals larger than mink, small than fisher. Also weird they were grouped up. One of them was suicidal and ran under my rear tire. My wife didn't want to stop so I kept driving trying to figure out what these were.
Any ideas?

Possums gets my vote. If it were near Ladysmith I’d have voted different!

I did consider the greater Wisconsin firle but the fact that I saw it made me think that it couldn't possibly be it.

Wishedhead, You just had to be on this site when the firle was a topic being discussed years ago. Sort of like your screen name here. ;-) I hear there might be another firle season again this fall.

That was the first thing I thought of, a Firle family. But then again, like stated above, if in Ladysmith it could have been anything. I believe they even have Aardvarks up there!!! LOL.
