620 hunt

Well I just drew my first ever 620-20 Breaks tag and since I have never hunted there I was hoping somebody could possibly give me a few ideas on where to start. After last winter it will most likely be a hard hunt but going to give it a good try and do my best for an older than dirt guy. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I would opt to hunt early even if it's fairly hot and miserable. The problem in 620 is the archery tags probably outnumber huntable elk. There are at least 3 "no hunting" ranches that will harbor large elk numbers and once they get pushed in there, it gets tough. The big bulls and cows seem to figure it out first and you'll probably find young bulls still dumbing around on public land.

Don't forget to hunt the open country and if you're an older than dirt guy, the drag won't be so far in the flat country.
