Just wondering if any of you guys put in for a special tag and got drawn? I was super pumped when I checked this morning and was drawn for the New Brunswick Moose season. September can't come fast enough!

That's great Jdrdeerslayer! I hear Newfoundland is amazing. Are you going to try for caribou too or just moose?

I do Maine and NH, even though one is a long shot and the other is not offering many tags. I have too many points to sit it out and I'm not getting any younger either. Hoping lightening strikes.

I also build points in Colorado and Wyoming, two awesome states for elk, mule deer and antelope. You younger guys should consider it even if you're not going to hunt out west for a number of years. When your kids a grown and the mortgage is paid you'll be glad you did. Short money.

We are doing moose only , caribou numbers are down and not as many tags as there used to be. We are all going rifle. Last year this outfitter had 47 moose hunters, and took 44 moose , the 3 hunters that didnt missed/hit didnt recover.

I drew New Brunswick my first year applying back in '08. It was awesome... I shot a whopper.. It was only a 3 day season back then, so I took the rifle. I shot my bull at 20 yards... sure wish I had taken the bow... Oh well. The odds are much better than Maine. Just get a good guide who hunts paper company land... Taxis River Outfitters is who I went with. I cannot give them a better recommendation. Larry and his crew are top notch. I would like to try again for there and go again in the near future. I believe the season is now a full week.

Ungie, thats awesome! How big was it? Best wild game meat in my opinion. This is actually my second tag ( horseshoe up the ass) in 6 years. First time was only 3 days but managed to get a stud as well. Now it's 5 days thank God. I go to this place called Palfrey Lake Lodge and have been since I was about 12 for everything outdoors there. Thank you for the recommendation though I appreciate it!

awalk... he was a 48" 18 point bull. In New Brunswick they have to be check in whole. You can't quarter them to take them out. It was a chore, but at least I put him down on the skidder trail. He weighed 870lb completely field dressed. I agree, best game meat I have ever had.

I have no idea why that deer pic is showing.. not even my deer!?!? so weird.. i tried to attach a different moose pic... so, my disclaimer: I DID NOT SHOOT THAT DEER. I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THAT PIC CAME FROM... lol

That's fantastic ungie! And I'm with you on it being a chore. Took three hours, three chainsaws, and a tribe of people to get him to the road! This was the one I got 6 years ago. 55.5 inch spread and 18 points as well.

I did a shoulder mount, its enormous and the wife makes me keep it hung up in the garage. Which is a shame but then again it would take up like half our living room haha.

Deerdawg... she is! There are also 4 Euro's and an antler whitetail antler plaque in that room, then the formal living room has 4 should mounts, and the finished basement / bar has my gun safe along with 6 more Euro Mounts and a full strut turkey mount. Then I have a small unfinished workshop with my gear and small racks and turkey beards, etc. haha... Plus, a new epic pedestal mount coming from this year's buck! So... she's pretty awesome. I also have another huge bear 3/4 mount hanging at my buddy's house... but that may be coming back soon. The rug bear was 313lb and the 3/4 was 325lb.
