Well, it wasn't the textbook hunt you always hope for, but after getting my a$$ kicked by these birds all season and missing on one good opportunity, I finally was able to fill a tag this AM. I dropped the girls of at school and the neighbor texted me that there were 2 toms in the field behind his house "displaying" with some hens. I have a ground blind on the edge of the woods before a steep drop off down to the river bed. I drove home and ran in and threw my camo on over my work clothes and grabbed the shotgun. I ran across the street and worked the edge of the bank until i was out behind the house and field. I crept up the bank and got right behind my blind and stepped out and this one picked his head up at about 30 yards to look at me while the other tom was already running away.

You caught a break, unlike deer, a turkey usually runs first and never looks. They seem to be wired to instantly run when they see movement. Congrats on a great bird!
