I've been doing some online scouting for my upcoming hunt this fall and noticed on my Huntstand app these areas dotted all across the state called "Joint State Resource Management Area". They show up when I select the "show public lands" option on the app. I have called the area game warden and emailed the OKWC and they both say they have no idea what those areas are. Do any of you guys here know what these areas are and if they are open to public hunting? Thanks in advance for your help.

I don’t know anything about the app you are using, but the Oklahoma school system owns land all across the state that they lease off at auction for up to 5 years at a time. On OnX they show up as public land but that doesn’t give us the right to hunt them. Might be the same with your app.

That makes sense. Louisiana has the same thing but most of the School Board land is open to the public. Only a few of them are leased. Thanks for your input.
