Getting ready for a Saco Camping trip in August. We are going the hammock route so I need another three tarps to fit out the crew. Being the cheap bastard that I am, I tried my hand at sewing up an ultralight silnylon tarp. Tarp number one took a bit of work, but I have it down now. This little bugger is 10 feet by 11 feet and it weighs nothing. Oh and the cost........... $35. Pete

Nice, Pete. I'm going to try my hand at my first real sewing project soon. Hoping to turn the straps from an worn out hiking bag into carrying straps for climbing sticks. No idea what I'm doing!

PI, I have bug netting that goes around the hammock. However, tarps could be used as light weight tents as well, then I would have to come up with a netting idea.
