I'm thinking about going just this Saturday and look for some elk at 28. I dont need any honey holes or a place that will have elk 100% ofcourse it would be nice but I dont need it and that's not what I'm asking for. I'm asking for maybe just a general area where there might be some elk and some tips for that unit. Thanks and please PM me.

Get to timberline. Get above the down beetle kill. Get above the horde of non res hunters.

Lots of private as well as non-open to elk hunting public in 28....know where you are. Check out Jumbo Mtn and some of the surrounding area.

the success percentage is one of the lowest in the State, ie, 5%. Less elk, more hunters===== a very bad hunt. I would look somewhere else.

I got into Elk in 28, had a monster Bull (for me) at 35yrds but never had a good shot, but that was the only day I got into Elk. I likely won't be going back to that area.
