I have been thinking about maybe trying to locate elk at night and move in the general spot in the morning. What are your guys experiences in bugling in the night time? Any strategies based on this? Thanks!

I have found out when solo, outback camping, that I hear bugles around midnight from bulls wandering around or positioned in a meadow with cows. Not so much later as day light approaches. Bulls feel more secure in the dark and are more likely to respond, but as oldgoat stated, "sometimes" . If you get a response, take a compass reading and head that way asap but down wind. If it is a wandering bull, he may be a mile away if you wait too long or if it is not shooting light.
