Does this deer look healthy to you ?
The growing discoloration has me focused. This is a Sept 19 photo and this deer has been getting darker and darker .
If not sick, how do we explain the coat?
thanks

I have 2 does on camera from earlier this week on public that look similar to that one. Maybe a little blotchier. I was thinking its just the winter coat coming in. They do seem dark though. Curios what others think.

I call this thread exactly what the antis want. Now that the state has the hunters wondering if deer are healthy or not many will survive. Come on, it can not be the first time you have seen a deer change to their fall/winter color to blend in better to their surrounds. There deer is probably healthier then most of us.

Id call the warden and see if any local biologists could run some tests

Why, so they can say it was CWD and then commence to shooting every deer within 30 miles to "save the deer"?!?
I'd keep my mouth shut and just know that deer get sick and some even die from time to time of something other than an arrow or bullet (or Buick). The DNR doesn't need our help shooting our own feet..

I have had similar deer in the past and discussed it here then. DNR wants nothing to do with it.

I don’t have any opinion about it but this deer looks kind of sick to me. I actually came here to read something about side effects of cannabis oil but I wasn’t able to find any content. Let me know of any posts about it here.

It looks like either it is eating an apple or the jaw has a problem. The dark color could be due to seasonal hair loss, possibly made worse extra loss due to illness or a sick deer not grooming itself.

A couple of years ago I had a sick looking deer on camera. I'm positive it was lumpy jaw. Had a doe maybe ten years earlier that had lumpy jaw too.

I also had a deer that hung out by the house a few years back with lumpy jaw, looked so painful for her.
