Awhile back I saw a post with recommendations for Alaska but can't seem to find it. Anyway I'd like to take the wife for some halibut fishing and site seeing. Question is when's the best time to go? Charter? I've also read about a train ride that's a must do? We are not into the cruise deal so would fly inn for sure. Thanks for any info!

June and July are the best months for Halibut, at least out of south central alaska,(home, Seward, ninilchik) 2 different train rides are great. Anchorage to Seward, and then Anchorage to Fairbanks with a stop in Denali National park. Again, best weather is june/July, but also the most crowded and most expensive.
