Camp Whack-a-doe is OPEN!
Guys are starting to roll in.
Any snakes in the area Perry?
LOL! Haven’t seen any yet, but I’m ready this year! (2 pair of snake boots! ;-)
Getting guys registered and assigning properties.
1st 2 shots on my proficiency test...................not a Robin Hood, but shot thru the fletching!. : )
Wait,, don't start without me.
Best of luck guys and gals.
Go get em boys! Good luck!
Start driving Ed...................you can make it by Sat! ;-)
Thanks guys! 30 hunters registered already.............
Very exciting! See you all Friday!
Prehiunt breakfast...............
See you tomorrow Ryan
Whack them early and often! See you all tomorrow.
Had a nice doe sneak by at 45y in thick stuff at 7.
Got a small one somewhere in front of me in REALLY thick stuff- hope it comes this way.............
You should have been in your spot this morning Curtis! The big doe walked over towards the field where my doe died last year. You woulda had a shot! ;-)
See you tomorrow
Had this little one come in................... was hoping momma would come in behind but she went the other way. : (
You seem to attract those ones with spots. :)
C’mon, Perry, take us on a blood trail
I was thinking the same thing Phil! : )
Good luck guys & gals! Time to start whackin' and stackin'! Keep the pics coming....hopefully some blood trails and trophy does appear in them. ;)
Thanks! We’re trying.....................
Man that old doe was smart! The fawn stopped and looked back for 5-6 min and thought momma would eventually come in. But she only came to 45 y then turned and circled the other way. Didn’t spook, but apparently knew something wasn’t quite right! : (
ì pitched camp next to our resident snake-charmer.
Just laying here looking at the pictures. Good luck everyone.
That’s what I’m talking about, Perry! That arrow looks great covered in blood!
What's a 5C hunt without my feet. Some of you will know what I mean, some not.
Well now! Nice work! How about a picture update.
Should be a good evening after the rain pushes through
LOL! It’s just like you were here.................... : )
Sorry for the delay folks, it was a busy morning......................2 bloody arrows Josh! ;-)
We have 2 on the board! This one almost got by me into the thick stuff. It was a very quick shot! (sorry for the graphic pic, but it took awhile to find her and then wanted to get her back to camp and in the cooler due to the warm temps! So that was the only pic I had time for)
Congratulations, Perry! Looks like you’re in the lead!! ;)
Thanks guys! Lots of deer spotted................., but I was the only one who connected.
Taking one of our new hunters back to that spot this evening. Hopefully the action stays hot!
Getting showers now, but supposed to pass.
Good job Perry. I guess you have work detail the rest of the weekend.
Time for you boys and girls to get out and make the donuts.
Holy crap. Rut! Did you use a can opener on your hat doe? Lol!
Any white oaks dropping up there this year. We are seeing a bunch of deer feeding on them in 5D.
BINGO Brian! I could use a helmet!
RAGE TRYPAN Bill! ;-)
2 of us in woods and 2 in the corn where they cross.
Good luck to everyone, shoot straight and have a fun weekend!
4 of us hunting this property.............saw a couple- one hunter drew but no shot.
Overall tonight a clean miss and one hit. Still looking. One shot on adjoining property- another clean miss.
Here is the doe that Victoria drew on...............it turned before she could get the pin settled and then walked straight away.
Only 2 of us in the woods this morning..................(on THIS property.) Nothing moving here. Reports of deer moving on others............
Beautiful morning out there. Good luck!
Holy cow! How did I miss this for 2 days? Glad to see some hitting the ground, and the obligatory feet picture!
Thanks guys! Went with the rubber snake boots this morning. : )
Good luck today, folks! Today looks like a good day for hunting....not so much for the deer!
Well I'm on my way home from Colarodo. Came close, had a 4x4 at 20yds , but there was a 6x6 we were working 80yds off. Worked him 2.5 hours till we could not see our pins. He had about a dozen cows.
Edit,, I thought I was posting this on my thread. Opps

Are there venomous rubber snakes in PA?
Good one Art! ;-)
No problem Ed- sounds like you had a great time even if no shot.
4 of us set up tonight. Dan and Victoria in woods and me tucked into edge of field. Curtis and son tucked into low drainage spot with little corn. They pushed out Bambi hiding behind the bush next to telephone pole walking in.
Heavy trail coming out into beans 20y to my right and 15y to left.
Victoria just saw a doe walk past out of range..............
A Turkey just roosted above Smoker! ;-)
Any deer hit the ground today? I’m wearing out my refresh button!! :)
13 does sited here at this farm this evening.
Yes..................waiting for one to come in to camp.
Nothing came out into field. Curtis and son kicked another one out walking out in dark. Time to go to Plan C! ;-)
Oh, and one hunter got chased out of the corn field by a combine! His partner in the tree had to text him to ABORT! ;-)
Also one of the new guys had deer come out into corn where he was. Happened fast and he shot right over her back. He was excited just telling the story!
Looks like a lot of fun and for a good cause also. my best, Paul
Thanks Paul, it is!
Tonight was Pizza night:
It’s been a TOUGH hunt so far! Still only 2 on the board. 2 shot tonight. Going to let them lay tonight and hopefully find in the morning. Lot more missed this year!
Hopefully things change tomorrow!
Guys/Gals were talking about their game plan tomorrow.
And one of my “buddies” presented this to me after dinner! : )
And you spent all that money on boots when all you needed was that little kit. :)
Rut please tell everyone I said hi. Hope to see you all at other UBP events over the next 3 or 4 months.
Keep the post coming Rut.
Thanks Ed- will do!
Well, I had a little “incident” last night and so I played “guide” this morning and set up Dan, Victoria and Curtis/son up in their spots on the property, since I had them marked on my GPS. Dan and Victoria are in climbers and Curtis/son on ground.
I was in no condition to hunt(more on that later) so I went back to camp after getting them set up.
Well, “crunch time” folks! Time to..................GIT-ER-DUN! ;-)
If we don’t get many more deer to donate, we’re gonna have to ride around looking for ROADKILLS this afternoon! : )
I had a group of deer walk about 45 yards up the hill from my stand last night. So this morning I decided to move up the hill.
You know what happened. This morning I had 3 deer walk about 40 yards down the hill from my stand...
Bringing it down to the wire, I see! Had to recheck this thread, and make sure it wasn’t a semi live hunt from CT!! lol! Today is the day!
Oh Jeez Art! Been there, done that! KEEP AT IT! You never know what is JUST about to step out............ ;-)
LMBO Josh! Stay tuned- got a truck coming into camp headed towards the scale! : )
So hows my UBP family do this am?
Good news! They found Aaron’s deer from last night. Got it weighed and in the cooler by 8:30! Good job Aaron! (One of our Youth hunters) KEEP THEM COMING FOLKS................
10am update: reported deer down on property B-9 Mike, Bill, Ryan and Jack..........,,.,,.hunting there
Apparently Bill shot..................
So hows my UBP family do this am?
Just found out that was Aaron’s first ARCHERY deer! And he graciously donated it to HSH! THANK YOU and CONGRATS Aaron! : )
Way to go folks. Rubs and scrapes popping up here, Perry.
Nice Art! I’m on an EARN A BUCK property, but NO WAY I’m going to use my Buck tag down here! ;-)
Well, all the hunters are out there for CRUNCH time! We’ll see if we have any “clutch” Bowhunters in our State .Org. : )
I’m back at camp helping prep for the pig roast. Still shook up a bit from last night’s scare, so I’m taking it easy today......................
Good luck folks! Let those arrows fly!!!!
AND.....................DON’T Let this turn into a CT LIVE HUNT thread! (SORRY CT hunters, but I just could not resist! : )
Lol, Perry! Don’t worry...you already have pictures of dead deer in this thread, so I don’t think it can revert back to CT level! ;)
Oh geez.................I think we may have just CROSSED the line! SORRY CT BOWHUNTERS! Just some good natured banter................NO ill will intended! ;-)
So I am at camp getting running commentary on 3 different group texts. I have the popcorn.....................this is BETTER than PAY PER VIEW! : )
Young Dalton proclaimed in camp yesterday that “HE IS GOOD..................and WILL KILL A DEER!”
Darryl sends this pic and says: “First doe on stand!!! There @ 235y................. need more pins!” ;-)
Look foward to your guys post every year, check in on them every few hours, seems like a fun event and for a good cause, trying to get out next week a few times in wma 2b. Well good luck hope you get a few more.
Victoria has one down! Spined her! Out of arrows trying to finish her. 2 other doe blowing there- won’t leave the other deer. Curtis and Dalton sneaking her way to kill 1,2 or 3 deer! ;-)
Stay tuned.....................
too cool! zoey is looking out the window and barks at deer that come in to eat chestnuts. We let her out and they ignore her because she is inside the fence.
Well, one more!(Victoria’s)
Got 2 more hit. 4 of us Headed out to help track! Got 20 min before severe thunderstorm! UGH! : (
Prayers appreciated! ;-)
Looks like there will be some of us late getting to the pig roast.................
GOD IS GOOD! By the time we got to the property, the hunter found both deer. Started to rain as we slid the deer down the 45* bank then helped each other slide down ourselves. Got to camp JUST before the Blessing! Thanks for prayers folks!
Congrats Chris! The biggest DUDE in camp(6’8”) got the BIG MOMMA AWARD (for heaviest doe!) 113.4 lbs
Final count 6 deer killed and 5 donated to HSH! Also second and third place prize money ($75 total) was donated to HSH(in addition to our usual monetary donation of about $250. )
A BIG THANKS to all those who participated!
Looks like it was quite the successful event once again! Congratulations to all the successful hunters in camp, and also a big THANK YOU to all of you who make this possible. Stuff likes this makes me proud to be bow hunter in PA!! :)
See any snakes, Perry? :)
Great job everyone, congrats to all. Thanks
Thanks for the kind words, guys. I think I can speak for the committee when I say this is a labor of love! Just got back so I have unpacking and drying to do! When I get a chance, I will add a few things.
Roy- OMG YES!!!!! Thanks to my “friends” I DID see a snake Friday night! All I can say is with friends like these................. ;-)
I can recommend a good cardiac doctor.
LOL! Don’t need a cardiologist...................I PASSED my STRESS TEST with flying colors on Friday night! If I didn’t go into immediate cardiac arrest THEN, I NEVER will! ;-)
Leave it to the guy that uses an $800 automatic rangefinding bowsight to find a.....................MOTION ACTIVATED, HISSING, LIGHT-UP RED EYE, ATTACK SNAKE THAT RATTLES!
Imagine stepping into your tent at 11pm after several LONG days(and short nights) and seeing this:
When you get within 2 feet of it, the motion sensor “trips” and the neck lunges forward like it is striking!
Here are a few pics from last night’s pig roast
Line was kinda long, but there was plenty of food!
Good thing we have the BIG TENTS! A thunderstorm rolled in just before dinner. You might be able to see the rainwater pouring thru between the tents- hence the gap in the line.
Just got pics of Victoria and her deer. Also found out it was her first ARCHERY deer- CONGRATS Victoria! That makes 2 “firsts” this year.
One of the great things about this event every year is the TEAMWORK! Somebody needs help tracking, dragging or field dressing a deer they call us and we figure out who is hunting nearby. Then whoever is closest will go to help. If nobody is hunting nearby we round up a group from camp and head out- like last night.
Always fun being in camp and meeting some new people. Thanks for everyone who helped to make this hunt possible. It was a great experience to introduce my son, Dalton, to what hunting is about. Helping landowners, hungry folks, fellow hunters, and having fun in the process. We weren’t on the road for 5 minutes and he was already talking about coming back next year.

That's great to hear Curtis- I will pass it on to the committee. It's what makes all the hard work well worth it! ;-)
I think my favorite pic is the one of Dalton aiming his crossbow thru the Predator-like decoy you made for him- GREAT STUFF! : )
