Lets get this started ladies and gentlemen. I hope everyone has a safe, successful and fun season. Jocelyn shot her second ever archery deer Saturday morning the 21st. The shot was 15 yards and the deer was quartering away very hard. She made a great shot and the arrow hit the liver and a lung. The arrow entered just in front of the rear hip and exited just behind the offside shoulder. She is shooting a PSE stinger at 50lbs with a slick trick Mags. The deer made it about a 100 yards. Field dressed this doe weighed a 100 pounds.

Got in my stand nice and early, the wind was perfect, it was 38 degrees. Then about 6:30 I get a bad feeling in my bowels!Oh well climb down and head downwind to do my business.Get reset by 6:45.About 7:10 I see a big doe and a medium size doe coming in.Watch them feed for a while and came to full draw but didn't have the shot.Finely the smaller one gives me a nice 15 yard slightly quartering away shot. After bouncing off a wire fence she went about 60 yards.Had her all cut up and back to bath remodel by 11:00 o'clock!

After spending 2 more days in New Hampshire and not seeing any deer I came back Sunday.Monday morning I hunted and saw nothing.I was set up in another area by 2 o'clock. At 2:40 I see deer moving at 100 yards.I stand and grab my binoculars. After half an hour I decide glassing is too much movement so I put them down.An hour later I see 3 deer feeding my way at 30 yards. They move in to 15 yards but are all quartering to.Suddenly one picks up her head and skips ahead.I draw turn and shoot her at 6 yards.Shes dead in 5 seconds, heart shot!Bring her to Arcadia to check her in,88 lbs.New Hampshire is a beutiful place to hunt, and it will whip you into shape. But we have a great thing going in RI

RI State Land 10Pt 2K19
Greetings All,

Not a bow kill, but it certainly could of been! Nice RI state land 10 Pt. I took on 11/8/19. This is my first year exclusively using a saddle. This is my first buck with my saddle, the buck snuck right up on top of me, the woods were so loud with the wind blowing, I never heard him come in, but that buck had no clue I was there, looked right up at the tree I was in from 5 yards away, and didn't give me a second look because I was on the backside of the tree, once the buck increased the distance from me a bit I was able to put the shot on him. I think if I was in a regular treestand he would of busted me.

Yesterday 11/16/19 I had another nice state land buck walk right up to me within 25 yds, and then bed down for a few minutes while I was just standing there looking for a tree to get into, if I didn't already have an archery buck tag in my pocket I would have purchased another buck tag for the ML, but knowing I would of had to eat a tag regardless I opted to just hold onto my archery tag, and try to fill my other ML tag with a doe. It was still an awesome hunt none-the-less yesterday, just getting to be that close to a mature buck made it an awesome day in the woods. Best of luck to everyone the remainder of the year!

Shot this one this morning.I got in my stand just at first light and turkeys were making a ruckus.I'm watching turkeys when I notice one looks like a deer.He walks out in front of me at 40 yards, then heads straight to me.At 5 yards he turns to my left and I draw and stop jim at 8 yards. The shot was good, double longhand he went only 40 yards.I had not been seeing many lately through not for lack of trying. It felt good to have a quick hunt on a beautiful morning!

These are all great deer. Didn't realize how good the deer hunting is in RI. How much are deer tags? Do you have to pay for each doe tag? Are the public Lands crowded? I hunt up here in Maine and it can be a little frustrating sometimes.

Thank You

Nice Job Dean, I'm curious, do you think that deer was born in the spring or is it a 1.5 year old? I saw another killed like that recently, and I wasn't sure if it was a great year for button bucks or if it was a spike? Either way excellent shot and I'm sure it will be a great eating deer.

Croc out of state tags I believe are 25.50 per tag. You do have to buy a tag for each animal that you want to harvest. Public land can be excellent, but it can also get crowded at times. Good luck

Thanks Cp,I think it was a year and a half, it was about a 100 lbs.I checked a doe at state check in that was 80 lb dressed and they aged it at one and half.

Got a shot on a nice size doe this afternoon that was walking on 3 legs and she went right down. Before dressing I checked the left front leg and it was broken with bone poking through that looked fresh.

Got to my stand this morning it was 16 degrees, light wind, winter solstice, felt like it was going to be a great day.Just as the sun was hitting the tree tops I hear crunching behind me.As I turn to look I see a coyote coming about 80 yards out. Then I see 2 more falling the first, one of them had a broken leg. They came close and I had my bow in hand but no shot.Fifteen minutes later one of the coyotes sneaks back the way they came and disappears. After another 20 mins I see the coyote again about 50 yards to my left.He turns and crosses in front of me at 20 yards,I draw while he's crunching along but he still busts me and turns and runs away.Well I figure my deer hunt is busted too, but I have coffee and all my cold gear so i decide to stay.Just after 10 o'clock,I hear crunching from my right. Two does cross in front of me at 12 yards,I shoot the second one and she only goes 20 yards.Nice 110 lb doe!The first doe walked right where the coyote had been and didn't spook, she must have known they were old tracks.

I shot my first shotgun buck 12/15, when I lifted the head by an antler it instantly popped off. The second antler fell of right away too. Just about time to start shed hunting for me! Happy new years!
