Just wondering when you all start rattling and Laying scent trails for the Bucks? Also, what's your facoriite spot to rattle?

I had never tried rattling before last season, but I was on my second full day sit in a row and had only saw one deer so I figured why not. It was Nov 27th and 10 mins after doing a short rattling sequence and a few grunts the biggest buck I'd ever saw stepped out at 40 yds. I was able to make the shot and the buck was 190" 10pt. So I may try to do a little more calling from now on. Lol

LB when I hunt private farms where the buck to doe ratio is more in line rattling sequences work well. When I hit the public lands I hunt , rattling rarely works. Think this is because I see atleast 15 does for every buck. Add in the daily pressure, scents, and sounds they create, and those bucks learn the 'game' I would add that when rattling you can't bang those antlers hard enough! Slam them and create sounds by hitting branches. Remember to cut off the brow tines or you will have bloody knuckles. Not all deer react the same. Some bucks come right in, while others will circle downwind and head in slowly. Stay alert and ready. Good luck and be safe.

I rattled in a 2.5 year old 8 in PA this past week. Obviously different state, but I am convinced it works. Pulled him straight out of bedding on a line to my tree. I think when paired with a decoy it can be even more deadly. Had my decoy been out front of me I feel he would have definitely came out from behind my tree and provided a shot. He got spooky once he realized there were no deer to support the ruckus he heard.
