Do you ever blind rattle or grunt call, or do you wait until you see a buck?

I blind grunt call a lot. Three of my best bucks I grunted in and two of those I didn't see. They just came in from hearing me grunt. When deer are cruising solo during the rut it works well. A few years ago I saw a buck come out in a picked corn field about 400 yards away. It was a clear crisp morning and I grunted several times. He came in on a string.

I blind call and rattle all the time, and I share your experience one year when I grunted a young buck in from 350 yds opening day of gun season. He milled around in front of my stand for several minutes. It's amazing how they can pin point the location.

I rattle almost every morning..... and always when I see a buck that looks like his path will be out of range by 100 yards or so. If he is going to walk by me just out of range I'll use a grunt. The other guts that hunt the same farm don't believe it will work..... but it does for me.

Pogo, I don't rattle every time, but I have rattled a buck in close and closed the deal with the grunt call
