Younger 9 first and second day
Younger 9 first and second day
After last years debacle, I finally got another chance to venture into Kansas. We saw numerous deer this year, more than other years. My favorite pinch point spot had deer around me from sun up to sun down. I passed on a beautiful wide 9 pt on three different sits the first 2 days. I usually had 4 to 12 bucks in there per sit. I passed on the 9 because of his age hoping next year will see him with another 20 to 30 inches on. My other spot yielded 5 to 8 sightings, not bad for a working cattle ranch. Young bucks bumped does all day left me sure eventually the bigger boys would start moving.

Day 8 of my 9 day trip, I finally have an old 8 + a sticker, come in around 2:00 pm. I had been hunting all day for the last 5 days. Both does were 60 yard recoveries, the buck 35 yard recovery. I can remember early in my bow hunting career I was lucky to find a wounded deer, funny what age and experience teaches about shot selection.

Yeah, though my brother never learned. When he texts about shooting a deer, I know it will be an long exciting experience.

And, the nine point I kept passing up the first two days, had him all three hunts the first two days within 8 to 22 yards while he stood there like a mentally challenged 1 year old, well a guy from Arkansas took him on the same wood line 300 yards away. So much for passing up younger bucks.
