Has anyone had decent luck archery deer the tail end of season in jan. Are they spooked, hidden, Any chance to shoot a decent buck. Is it waste time to try. Im Hunting in wetern oklahoma whitetails. With a person that knows area.

You can find one if you have a good food source but it can be tough also . I am in western Ok. also Good luck

It can definitely be done but I’d keep expectations low for the big bucks...baiting is becoming increasingly popular in Oklahoma and can work well late season. Thicker cover close to acorns or fields of winter wheat and alfalfa can be good also

Also if it’s western Oklahoma there normally good amounts of winter wheat around, people are planting it later and later in the year it seems so in some places it’s just now becoming a good source. You likely won’t shoot a big buck on winter wheat but you might catch him going to or from. Western Oklahoma gets significantly less bow pressure than the east so yes those deer will have likely settled down a bit but will still be antsy as there is currently an antlerless season going on although it’s not on in some of the western counties so you might be good. Eastern Oklahoma they kinda stay cagy until pretty late only relaxing a bit
