Monthly Rainfall for the Rim 2020
New year, new totals. Wrap up of 2019:
Total rainfall 40.20 inches.
Total snowfall 128 inches.
Low Temp 8
Normal rainfall is 20-22 inches.
Very nice! About time for another storm. Send it!
Jan total, 2.04 inches. Still have snow from Christmas storm. Not much. No new snow.
4 inches of snow this AM, and .75 inches of moisture.
6” at my place....heavy wet snow
Already an inch of rain in the rain gauge for today and still raining. Supposed to turn to snow tonight and snow most of the day tomorrow. Good timing with these storms.
We got 2.1 inches of rain and about 2 inches of snow. Was down by Willcox javalina hunting, so I missed all the excitement at the cabin.
We got about 3” of snow.....wet snow at that. Every reservoir in the White Mountains is going over the spillway!
Over an 1” of rain so far from last night and today......more expected tomorrow and Friday. Ground is saturated. Going to be another good spring
1/2 yesterday, 2 inches + today, and still raining. Temp is 48 degrees, normally below freezing. Glad it is not snow.
Only got a half inch today. Temps still up in the 40's loving the moisture. All the stock ponds are full, and seasonal streams are running.
Over 9 inches for the year all ready.
We got hammered at my place overnight. Storm total so far is just over 3” of rain......been snowing since 6:00am. Supposed to snow/rain the rest of the day. Ground is saturated.
Inch of rain yesterday 2 inches of snow. .8 inch today, some sun, lotsa clouds. cool.
6 inches of snow last night. but melting off pretty quick. Looks like it will be a really good year if the monsoon makes it on time, and is of normal amounts.
That's great to hear. Hopefully the monsoons will start on time.
We got 8” at my place in the White Mountains....most of it is melted already. Ground is saturated from the heavy rains last week. Should be green this spring and into summer.
SRP says their storage is 99% full. Tonto Creek is flowing at 900 cubic feet per second into Roosevelt. A good year.
Got a nice little snow storm in Forest Lakes on Friday. Maybe 3-4 inches. Everything is good and wet at the end of March. Should be a great spring!
Be over in your parts this week....looking for speedgoats
Been remiss about updating this thread, but April was good, May not so much and June is off to a good start. April. 6 inches, May .5 and June .05 today. Hope we get an early start to the monsoon. Total YTD 15.4 inches, so off to a good start. Most of the seasonal creeks are still running. Stock tanks are mostly full.
Monsoon looks to be starting in NM. Hope it gets here soon and douses the Bush fire.
Had a 30 second rain yesterday in the White Mountains.....hope the monsoon starts.....tired of watering trees!
First rain of the Monsoon. 1/4 inch. Temp went from 94 to 63 almost instantly. On a side note, also heard the first bugle of the year. This AM. May have been a cow as also heard lots of mews.
Ended the day at .41 inches.
Sounds promising Just in time
Half inch at the house today. More forecasted through the weekend
Been getting good rains in Forest Lakes! And Apache Sitgreaves just lifted fire restrictions!
another 1/4" during the night.....wish it was more, though.
I'm getting the feeling summer monsoons may be a thing of the past down here in this concrete jungle called the valley of the sun. Over last 15-20 years we seem to only get 2-3 storms a year that ever make it to my house in NW part of valley. So far this summer I have received about 5 minutes of spit.
Sure hope it comes down good for the rest of the state until about Aug. 20th.
Spent the weekend up on the Rim. Did get some storms, but nothing too intense. The is the second weekend since early July I’ve spent up there and both have been what I’d call a low grade monsoon. Just doesn’t feel like the full blown monsoons I usually encounter. This year is definitely under performing, at least were I’ve been. Looking at next week, hot temps and dry weather appear to win out again. Sure hope it ramps up in August.
Good and wet on the Kaibab this week. It rained all day Thursday, got some good storms on Friday and Saturday too.
Monsoon 2020 is sucking big time! No rain in sight!
July was a bust, just over an inch, Aug 1st started out ok. Got a 1/4 inch. Hope there is more.
Looks like August is going to continue the misery. 14 day forecast.
Terry, What are your totals for the year so far? I noticed last July 2019 you had over 3.5 inches of rain for the month and August had over 2 inches. I hope August is better than July was but forecast is pretty dismal.
We got 2” out of the storm in Forest Lakes on Saturday! It was awesome! Heavy marble sized hail for a while.
Knothead, as of 4 Aug. 17.43 inches. AZbugler is on top of the rim, I live right under the rim, maybe 15 miles form him as the crow flies. That tells you how streaky the storms have been.
Over all, this monsoon season is a DUD, much like last year. The weather folks are now saying that we are in a MEGA DROUGHT.
Got a surprise storm yesterday afternoon at my place......almost in inch. Ground sure sucked it up!
Aug total was .7 inches, total for the year is a tad over 19 inches.
oct. total was .53. Year total 19 and change.
There's been no measurable rain in the White Mountains for a while. Stage 1 restrictions start tomorrow. Unreal.
Honestly can’t think of another year I’ve seen it this bad. Been spending some time in 4a for my daughter’s youth elk hunt and I have yet to see a single dirt tank with any water.
I have a 500 gal tank behind the house. Fill it up about once a week. Just deer drinking from it.
First snow of the year. All melted. .3 of an inch of rain/snow.
Still snowing....about 3-4” on the ground
That’s great! We sure needed it. Heading up there today with my daughter hoping to find her a deer. Literally “any antlered deer” will do!
1” of rain yesterday in the gauge. Supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow.
.01 rain yesterday. 2 inches of snow last night. still snowing at 11:00 am.
So far 6” on the snow gauge
So far 6” on the snow gauge
No more moisture, but thermometer reading 4 this am!
little over an inch of rain/snow for the month of Nov. Most of the water holes are getting mighty dry.
2020 TOTALS ARE:
21.65 rain 2.5 ft. snow. 14 road killed elk 0 road killed deer
Looks like about 19 inches less rain and 100 inches less snow when you compare 2020 to 2019. Lets all hope 2021 is a better year in all ways than 2020.
Rain totals for 2020 in the Flagstaff area are the lowest EVER recorded. Can you say MEGA DROUGHT ?
