How big is big ????

We came across this today ! It was fresh not early season we have a big 8 about 50 yards away on camera
Wow, big for sure. I assume you set up some cams?
I always figured that the size of a tree that a buck rubs on has a lot to do with antler configuration as well as size. A buck with a small span between his brow tines did not make that rub. If it was much higher on the tree and much further North, I’d say look for moose tracks, but that’s a WT.
That fella def has some testosterone he is putting to use!! No doubt a good one! Next years prospect!!!
I often told my ex's kids and my sisters kids when they complained they were hungry while hunting/fishing to eat tree bark it builds character..crap you're kid took it literally..lol
Big beaver with an attitude
Bonehead we're still hunting !
That’s not fair....he’s 5’2”........
Huuuuuuuge!!!!!! Love to come across sign like that..your always wondering what deer made this..
Maybe a bear scratching his butt :)
That's a trophy class deer banging up trees that large. Go Fetch!
Almost looks like a signpost rub you see them a bit up north in Maine
Definitely qualifies as BIG.
Too bad you just found it. Hopefully you have permission to hunt there.
Forgot about those zones!!! I’m back into work mode!! Lol!! Go get em!! Good luck!
Nehunter we hunted thus spot for 20 years , and that is brand new
No Sh*t. Hopefully he's still walking around.
I’m thinking a spike did it..
You weren’t think that when you were standing next to it! Lol
This is an April 1st prank guys. That is the tree Steve hit with the truck last time he killed a deer. The rear camera was dirty and the truck does not have collision assistance built in.
That is a massive rub.
I came across this one during rifle season. Not nearly as big a tree, although it isn't small. This one was probably the highest on a tree I have ever seen rubbed. It extends well past the top of the rifle barrel.
Toonces, any moose tracks or sign in your area like droppings?
It might be a moose, but guessing not. It is at the end of bench at the bottom of a ridge and creek crossing. There were deer tracks and droppings at the creek crossing and on the bench. It is in a spot I would expect to find a deer rub.
To answer your question, I did not come across anything that I would be sure were moose tracks or droppings.
Must have been made by a real dandy!
I haven't seen rubs on trees like that in years so that has to be something really nice. Especially if it's so big it looks like moose rubs.
Saw my biggest rubs in CT in the Lake Gillard Water Company controlled hunt. Saw some show stopper sign but never killed a deer there and saw very few.
May be a "signpost" rub made by multiple bucks?

Now this is big ... all DIY from hunting, to transport, to skull preparation, and finally after 1.5 years, wall mounting.
Big? How big is big? It's the one that got away... You guys should all know that. Big is defined by the lack of physical evidence :) ha ha ha!
"Big is defined by the lack of physical evidence"
More like big is enhanced or amplified by lack of evidence.
Big is when you grab some with your left hand, grab some with your right....and there’s still more to grab. :)
Tall 1, Buckndoe shot one of those Lake Gaillard beasts. Ask him to post a pic!!!
Notme only needs the left hand. Lol.
They don't realize just how LARGE your hands are, do they ?
I found a big rub today… Or at least I think it MIGHT be a rub… But therein LIES the rub…
Is there an alternative explanation for this one?
To be perfectly honest, I’m not convinced… And on the other hand, I don’t know what else it would be?? I guess it could’ve been an angry little kid with a pointy stick....
What do you guys think?
I think it’s a mountain lion scratch post!! Lol. See if there is any DNA left behind, they might be able to trace it to East BF or the Dakotas. Ha ha ha
I don't know what it is, but I don't want to run into it in the dark.
Could be the guy that built that walk way trying out his brand new 14 amp Milwaukee sawzall
Milwaukee doesn't make a 14 amp that I know of, it's either 12 or 15. And sawzall is a brand of reciprocating saws. As a tool guy I need to correct abuse on this site :)
Testing your knowledge there bob...Bosch has 14 amp..lol
I've seen a few like that cougar, a nice one for sure.
You know, I love seeing sign like that in my hunting area, but boy does it p_ss me off when they never show up.
